First written history of the tribes that found the city.
The Growth of the city and the control of the world.
A period of lost history
First written history of the tribes that found the city.
The first humans towns on the eastern side of the Wind Swept Plains, settling near the mountains to the south and the sea to the east. Those towns names of lost ot history but their formed the core of the Megalopolis of Bavo'sand.
Surviving tribes arrive out of the west though the desolation. The Dwarves, Humans and Elves all travelled as far east as they could, the Dwarves went north and south to the ranges of peaks that cross the continent, a few did stay in the new settlements that began to grow around the area that is now Bava'sand, to help build homes and defenses. The Centaurs stay further to the east on the Windswept plains and the rivers that cut across the lands and stay nomadic tribal units of family units.
The 6 settlements of Humans, Dwarves and Elves that in a few hundred years became the core of Bavo'sand first buildings are built and became the settlements that grow into the Great City. Duskmere, Swiftmore, Rosefrost, Steelbarrow, Silkwind and Redmouth are all within a small area and can support each other and given help against the Centaur tribes and other dangerous in the lands that are still wild and untamed by Civilisation.
The Leaders of the towns and nebulous cities around the eastern end of the plains, realised that risking stablility of the region for gain over resources of the land would lead to potential all of them failing and the tribes of Centaurs to the West, sweeping in and wiping out all of the civilized people. So they form a council to discuss and work out all the differences between the towns, with debate or at the point where no agreement can be reach, ritualist combat between champions rather than war.
The towns of the plains, due to the influence of the council and the amount of movement between groups within the cities, and the noble houses marrying into each other, the decision was made to form a single state, "The Cities of Bavan", The original towns grew towards each other but were still a good distance apart and each had their own noble houses. This merged into the Cities, gave them more security from the Centaurs to the west as well more nomadic tribes to the north and south in the hills and mountains.
Many of the tribes to the north and south of the cities were warlike and and saw the cities as a major danger to their way of life, and tried to reduce their power and growth, via gurelia actions of burning outlying farms and small settlements that hadn't be swollen up by the cities entirely. While short term gains where made by the tribes, the more organised, better trained and equipped cities milita soon put them down, those defeat tribes were given a choice of moving to the cities and join the civilisation or to die. Those that choose to join, family groups were kept together but the tribes were split across the cities to reduce the risk of them forming terrorist groups within the cities. This added to the mixture of people in the cities and made the cities rapidly expand closing the distance between each other, but still there was a distance. Also started the fact that believes that Civilised people lived in one of the cities and over time nearly all humans lived within one of those cities, along with Dwarves. Leaving just the centaurs to be nomadic tribes on the edges of civilisation.
During this time, due to the increase sizes of all the cities, more and more land was needed for farmland, and the cities started to encroach on centaur tribes lands, and the centaurs took badly, while the Cities believe that the centaurs weren’t physically on the land that they didn’t own it. So first the centaurs tried to force the farmers off by burning, and destroying the farm areas, letting lifestock free, and just causing issues, without blood being drawn. But either so the cities didn’t take kindly to these acts and sent the army in to protect the farms and people, this quickly escalated the situation, and violence happened, after the first group of centaur raiders were killed and left as a warning to the centaur tribes to not come back. The city army thought that be an end of it, but it wasn’t. The Centaurs while not as organised as the cities, they did have close ties by marriage and treaties between them, and with the death of that first raiding party started a war which wasn’t as one sided as the cities thought it would be, they expected it to be like the tribes to the north and south where they didn’t help one another, but instead they found an entire race fighting against them.
The city changes its name of its little kingdom from the Cities of Bavan to Republic of Sands, the name came from the tourament that created, due to the fact it was fought in a sand floored arena.
Over the ten years the war was fought many humans, dwarves and centaurs died, and no one really made any headway, because the Centaurs couldn't stand against the city armies in stand-up battle, but they were not stupid enough to allow them to be drawn into them, bar when there was no other option, and while they lost nearly all those battles the drain of life on both sides was immense. In the end the centaurs offer the cities a chance to finish the fight one way or the other. They could choose their 5 best champions to fight against the Centaurs 5 best. If the humans won the centaurs would retreat across the rivers to the west and leave the rest of the plains to the humans. If the Centaurs won the humans would back off to their orginal lands to the east. The Council agreed and the tourney was set. The Tourney was held in front of the leaders of the centaur tribes and the city council members. Along with members of the military and religion sects. The Tourney was a full on melee 5 on 5 and was brutal in the early stages, and the weakest of both side died quickly, the fight lasted over an hour and in the end only two stood was a centaur by the name of Vaerd of the Daj’an Tribe and Edmond of the House of Kalnai, and they both were seriously injury and neither able to fight beyond throwing a weaken attack or physical barging into each other. In the end they both fell and neither could stand. The leaders of the Religious sects declared it was a message from the gods that apart the two civilisations would fail and the needed to stand together to grow in strength. The leaders on both sides weren’t a 100% happy with this outcome but neither side was willing to dismiss the chance that the religious leaders were right. So the agreement came that the centaurs would join the cities, but each was given the option to stay in the plains rather than joining the cities like the tribes of humans and dwarves had done. At this point the Cities of Bavan changed the names to the Republic of the Sands
Mages discover the Mists and travel between Worlds via ritual magic. Many permanent doorways are opened in the areas around the City of Bavan both inside and out.
Senatorial positions become hereditical rather than merit of new members, As the senate positions open up the senate members are those that vote on new members, and the important and large families start working together to keep the senate pure for those families.
The trader families are unable to get into the senate due to the power held by the large sentorial familes (7 families hold 60% of the votes within the senate). They start hiring mercs from other worlds and planars, to push the families out of power, this ends up being a small skirmishes between families to become a major war, damaging the city of Bavan majorly due to fights and magic being deployed on both sides. The Traders end up creating there own Noblitity with 2 families running their campaign and once the senate is defeat becoming the Kings of the new Kingdom.
Due to the damage cause by Magic in the wars between Sente and Traders, Magic starts beiing seen as an anathema, and mages become a class of almost slaves, due to the segregation and suppression of those who could use magic.
The Traders rule the city of Bavan and it becomes an kingdom rather than a repuiblic

The Mages start forming a3 new Covenant to improve their lot in life, to help defend, and look after the persecuted mages of the City and Kingdom as an whole.
Large parts of the mages that the traders thought were under they control, suddenly dissappear overnight, shutting down the doorways to the mists, and portals directly to other planars as they left. Next the traders knew was small skirmishs happening where Mages destory the city guards, the fighting forces of the Traders, but slowly and over time, the mages could have just wiped everything out but they were controlling the magic to be limited and kept undercontrol so not to the general population fight against them.
The Mages rebelled against the controls of the Traders and Republic. Seeing themselves as the most important beings of the City.
The Crystal Tower appears Centre of the City Bavan, where one of the major Trader Families use to have they home, a 5 mile area of the city which was almost deserted becomes parklands with a large crystal tower in the centre. No one without magic was allowed near it.
The Crystal Tower controls the city and kingdom, No one sure how the laws are formed, but new rules and laws come out of the Crystal Tower and enacted by the guards and officals of the Kingdom.

Nuremous Leaders of Guilds recieved an invitation to come to the Crystal Tower for an meeting of importance. When they arrive they discover a Crystal Hall, to the south of the tower which the all directed to, and equal number of mages to those invited waiting for them, After hours of explaination and debate the mages explain that they want balance between mages and the rest of the popluation of the city, so agreed to create a new Senate of equal parts Mages and Normals, called form the Guild Leaders. Each side could decided how decided on their members. Which would be total of 300 members (150 mages and 150 from the rest of the city)
