Personal history

Early life

Born in 1330, Flavo Sjoerd was born to Khargan general Isabell Sjoerd-Fodder. He grew up in relative luxury, although as every Khargan youth he did attend military training until his 15th birthday when his parents send him to Ozul-Saba to nourish his passion for history. When he graduated at 25 Sjoerd became a scribe back in Khargan.

The Goliath Tomb

While working there a strange rumour caught Flavo Sjoerd's ears about the mythical Cave of Plunders. Sjoerd decided to risk it all on this rumour and sold his belonging to set up an expedition into Svellbjargheim. There he followed any lead he could until he came across what seemed to be the blocked off entrance to an ancient Goliath tomb. Sjoerd's team used black powder, brought from back north, to blast open the entrance, and inside they found treasures beyond their wildest believe. Ancient golden Goliath artefacts that Flavo Sjoerd thought were deserving of being displayed inside of museums across the Oroborian empire. As they ventured deeper into the tomb they found a gold-covered casket, and Sjoerd send one of his assistants to open it. The assistant was disintegrated and from all around them ancient undead Goliaths came rampaging forth. After the fighting was done Sjoerd and two of his original team of twelve remained standing. They brought the artefacts back home to the empire and became rich beyond their wildest dreams.

The discovery of the last Frogbird

A few months after his return Flavo Sjoerd was contacted by dragon-princess Myn-Xara. She wanted to host a grand feast and for this she needed a special dish. She had heard about sightings of the long thought extinct frogbird and asked Sjoerd if he could find one. Sjoerd decided that unlike most hunters, he would use a new method he had developed. He would try to discover the creatures natural habitat through the use of ancient frogbird bones and coprolites. This method did not work, but he miraculously did discover the location of the last frogbird, and brought it home just in time for Myn-Xara's royal feast. There he was invited as the guest of honour and told all the guests of the method he had devised to find the location of the frogbird. Dragon-prince Sar-Thedronus was fascinated by his method, and invited Flavo Sjoerd to teach his new method in his very own school in Ozul-Saba. Such the Flavosjoerd University was founded and the field of archaeology had began in Bataf.
