Session 71: Into the Underdark Part 1

General Summary

We enter the underdark from Haven. The air is oppressive and uncomfortable, even this high up before we've taken any proper descent downwards.   Even though we've been on this exact path before, it still feels uncomfortable.  The path spirals anticlockwise as we go futher and further down, with passages spiralling off to the right, and a gaping cham to the left.   Dhaer keeps Dancing Lights going as we head down, dim but enough to see.  He says he's been thinking of the problems with the path we've taken in the past - we've no Changeling to bluff our way past any guards and patrols this time.   The options are a route to Palen past Karlaith; risky but the quickest at two days travel. Another through a dangerous area that is three days, with no patrols for how dangerous it is. The third past House Daegoth, but the risk is that Daegoth has succumbed to similar madness as Karliath. They've not been heard from for some time, though if things are normal, they won't show hostility.   ---------------       We don’t know where Xun is so need a base from which to conduct an investigation Play a diplomatic game with Palen     House Deygoth leader - pragmatic, called the Sentry He’s apparently different to the other two The Warden of Palen is transactional - favour for favour etc Sentry is very blunt and will respond in the way he’s spoken to if he’s even there If you greet with kindness he’ll show kindness, if violence then he’ll kill you quickly   Rel “now I want to know why they’re silent”   Keep heading down these seemingly bottomless pit Robyn suggests tying to another and turning lights off Penny says it was a good idea Dhaer said that there’s things down here that don’t need lights to see, and if the lights go out, he’s dead Robyn says his sense of humour is fucking ridiculous   Dark down here is oppressive Ceiling is barely visible 20 feet above Then into single file   Can see further ahead than a before, 40-50ft, thin layer of fog and cold, moisture and plant growth Glow from the rocks themselves Rocks of Deygoth have their own light source Dancing lights has gone, light hasn’t changed Has been like that as long as Dhaer has been travelling down here   Rel finds a pebble with no glow but fog is cold Rest in a small alcove Acrid smell beginning - fungal smell   Path forks Rock pile blocking the left path, looks like its been there a long time   Fungal green growth across the archway and path ahead Acrid smell is strong by it Rock pile with a bleached skeleton Rel throws rock Penny throws piece of rations   Rel goes to burn it Gets affected by some sort of fungus affect Tentacle creature comes out of the fungus   Huge Alkalith Recoils from radiant damage   Rel tried shouting at the Tanarruk, it said fuck off back in orcish   Skeleton, multiple limbs and tail, almost a limb for walking, humanoid but not human. Unlike anything we’ve seen   We follow Dhaer around the corner after dealing with the demon   Robyn starts having a panic attack Dhaer uses calm emotion Dhaer said he was impressed at Rel
