Session 64/65: Back to Bastion

Session 64

We leave Purgatory and cross the Deep to head back to Bastion. While crossing, we disturb some harpies roosting near the cavern floor, and then get some demons on our tails also.
Three demons/fiends:

• Babau (demon) - emanantes a vile disease like aura
  
• Armanite (demon) - hits hard, multiple attacks, lightning strikes
  
• Bulezau (fiend) - tricksy bellend, really.
  

Rel, Robyn, Saman, Penny, all get knocked out at least once. Penny almost floats away courtsey of Bulezau's spells; ends up hanging on to Saman's head at points. Liv banishes the Armanite to their plane.
We make it out of the Deep, and head back towards Bastion. The Soul Anchor looks brighter than normal; in the distance, about a day away from Bastion, is a giant fiend-looking creature, as tall or taller than Bastion, walking away from
When camping for the night, Robyn and Rel talk about Rel's mother, Arafel. She was no where to be found after her father was killed. Daemon was open about not being a particular fan of her, but Thomas loved her so she was family, but it was odd that she was gone on that day when normally she would be home). Robyn confesses that she's struggling to figure out what to do next and where she's best to help. Rel encourages her to help people where she can, and then you'll get little ripples of good afterwards.

In the morning, Liv wakes the others after she and Saman took final watch, and explains Saman has gone on his own to pursue the visions he's been having. She hands over a letter he left, Robyn reads it first (but misses that its addressed to Rel on the first line), then gives it to Penny as it starts referencing looking after Penny, and then Rel finally gets it (but is Not Happy she was last).
When they get back to Bastion, they stop by the gnomish encampment. It looks quiet, because they've all clustered into the shelter of the wall following the giant creature that was walking towards Bastion the night more. Robyn visits Thaddius, asks if anything they need, and also about getting some different kinds of arrows for disrupting spellcasters - Thaddius says he'll have a think but will need raw materials (metal mainly) to help.
At the gate, the Skirmishers on duty aren't expecting them, and ask for paperwork, which we don't have. They go in and get clearance for them to enter but are met by Major Alora, who is as angry as Robyn has ever seen her. Normally Alora is the more personable of the higher ups, a counter-balance to Shatterstar's gruff nature, but today she is coldly serious. They've been gone for 20 days - where have they been, and what were they doing?
Rel's story about hunting fiends doesn't wash well, and that makes things even more tense. Robyn confesses to trying to hunt the fiend that killed Caine specifically, that it was personal and she knows it's not what they do. That seemed to soften Alora enough that they weren't interrogated any further, but Robyn promised to make sure their paperwork was in order going forward.
Robyn visits Quinn, and he brings her lute that has been fixed. She asks after the Stormwalkers - they were deployed to be ready to flank the creature that came to Bastion if necessary (including Madoc). She then goes to leave a message with Hamish as he's not home, saying she'll be home in the evening.

• Haven - Robyn picks up her stuff to take home. Liv goes to speak to Otho.
• Fight Night - Rel and Penny lose/win money
• Robyn visits Hamish - gets arrows, asks for help getting metal scrap for Thaddius. Finds out that Malora Rockwell has been murdered (10 days ago). She heads back to Haven for one of the fights, then doesn't stay as she's processing the bad news about Malora. Visits Quinn - talks about family, leaves message for Huw Stoneshield (acknowledging him as a captain).
