Session 94: Scallywags: Mossypool Arm, The Fisher's Wharf
General Summary
They dock in the 'arm' of Mossypool, and the Merchent's Expression, the Errant Venture, with the Redwing as well. The other vessels of the Crimson Fleet anchor nearby.
Once in the village of Mossypool, Lady Sasha heads to the leader's spot, the one who runs the most important aspect of this village: The Fisherman's Wharf, that run by the Frontelli Family, their leader being Jared Fahlem Frontelli. Kevdae takes some of the crew to get some fish for the kitchen for the next few days--Dosgratin, Pemi, and Ollie assist Kevdae.
Many others comes to the village just to enjoy some peace before the obvious coming storm. However, Vareth does see that Aikhon is much more quiet that normal and disconnected to the group--yes, he came along to the village, but he seems distracted by something. Vareth asks if his brother is okay, and Aikhon expresses worries in near riddle form of what comes next, of the layers to be made, so he dives into the waters to find a place to think and rest, in quiet and peace, truly. The fish is not truly why he came, but to find an aspect of his sanity. It seems many agree with this sentiment.
Pojin, Auna, Ilknar, and Nethpione find themselves walking together for some of the street food availabel here in Mossypool, and Roland walks over to talk with Ilknar and Nethpione. Roland addresses the obvious, trying to have Ilknar acknowledge and admit his feelings to Nethpione when the peace would make it matter most; being unsuccessful, Roland walks away, and Nethpione tries to ask Ilknar of what happens. He is embarassed, and she presses more, trying to understand the confusion, but Ilknar's gruff nature pushes Nethpione away, and she goes to ask Auna to take her back to the Call.
Roland follows after Lady Sasha, and she has made her way to the largest building on the wharf, one marked many times with the Frontelli family's label. She has communicated already with some of the main workers outside, and this family has many members, but they have brought her to the main office under a wooden awning. Roland comments first to Sasha's query about Ilknar, about how he does not acknowledge his emotions and about how stubborn he is--he spends too much time waiting. Their families, their are children.
At this point, Roland notices something with his new perception capabilities, a rogue of sorts--a die tattoo quite apparent on his neck. He follows, after the rumors of scaled humanoids. He is looking, though--Sasha does hear--for Roland, for his 500 gold bounty, to bring him in, to the Regency.
The rogue comes over, and she plays it off like she is here for the Dragon Glass, for Lady Le Stanun, and she is confused why is the Lady is not here with Roland. Roland is ablt to redirect the conversation, and he tells the truth. She is not here, the Lady. The rogue has a few bruisers near her to aid, and with this, with them moving to aid, Roland grapples the rogue and uses her as a shield to barrel out of the office--Lady Sasha offers a gold to one bruiser, tells him to set and he does, and she grapples the other with her snake tail.
Roland rushes her down the street, to where he finds Vareth Dovah. The Rogue immediately recognizes Vareth, and she squirms desperately. Vareth picks up on the intent for intimidation and coercion, and his mouth salivates with acid. He draws his scimitar, and he further threatens with removing toes as he takes off the rogue's boot. The rogue final divulges that the dragonglass was at a possibility to arrive in Mossypool, and the rogue was to pay off some local one-eyed cyclops to carry the substance to some caves to the east of here.
Roland is satisfied, and he gives the rogue a platinum and releases her from his grip and Vareth's potential acid breath, and consumption of toes. Vareth drinks, and Roland waits with him for the rest of the crew.
Aikhon has swam away, and he finds an island near the Mossypool's wharf. He rest, and he talks to himself. He holds the crystal ball, the two orbs of dragonkind. Is this the right choice? A future mistake? Or is it glorious purpose and divine right? Argh, the calm before the storm. Even then, it is not calm.
Lady Sasha is finally called forward to the daughter Frontelli, so she can meet with Grand Pappy Jared F. Frontelli. He knows of some rumors here and there, of the Calamity of the Scions to the South, The Fallen Star, of course. The Brackish Fleet sails to the west, but it has not been seen in months. Sasha also quickly realizes Jared is an avid fan of her book, and he gets her to sign his copy, complete with a heart. Sasha then quickly pivots the conversation. She wants to invest in the Frontelli's, and their fish. It is keen of the Grand Pappy to notice that this is means for them to have a place to back pedal, to have a haven in the retreat to come to that no others are aware. Lady Sasha invests 1000g. Satisfied, on both ends of the deal, Lady Sasha begins to return to the crew, so they can leave Mossypool and travel north.
With the crew coming back together, we find Mila across on another part of the grey coasts.
Mila returns to the room in her Collegiate Arcanum, but it has been, the room, taken for another, and her form here has been 'put in the box' as they say. Mila curses thus, and she checks the box for her favorite quill. Taking this, she moves on to the library--to the center part of the tower, and through the veil-like door, to the alternate plane for knowledge and gain.
The library is vast, taking many floors, but also three floors too. She takes her time, but luck or fate seems to lead her, and she finds what she needs within a few hours.
She looks into the Throne, the Storm King's Throne, and how over the last 200 years the dwarven king has tried to erase the knowledge of the throne before, of the storm's control, it seems, almost anciently, over the throne.
She finds texts that show that Dovah is a name only about 50 years old, and the new sons and daughters, they may be creating a mass delusion into the actual existence of the real Dovah. However, there is a reference to a character in Grindstone who may match one of the three descriptions: an enshrouded wizard in blue; a fat, gregarious merchant of some humanoid form between dwarf and elf; or, a dragon of various scale and color, but most commonly silver.
She also finds answers to Om, and her sister Bilin, the goddess of the Sea, the essence. She has little about her, but her connections to fiendish natures are intrinsic. Some believe she is the progenitor to those ideas--for water has a permeability to break between planes, or allow a fluidity between those planes. With this, she goes to the main desk, to see if she can gain access to the secret vaults. An attendant named V is at the desk, a stranged, horned Gith, and she muscles her way as she always can to get the key, at the price of 20g for V to stay quiet about her entrance into the vaults.
Once there she finds the tomes need for an understanding of the wall, not locked away, but set in front of their shelf, with a book mark within--a mark of the King upon the Parchment. Mila finds that they have begun their own research into a chamber within the wall, one only the King of the Faces, of the Wall, can enter. It is a room filled with the primordial magics of the fonts, like that of Grindstone, and they have begun to look into how they can craft this liquid, siphon it, for their own longevity and immortality. She only has a few more minutes, so she jots down some quick notes.
She leaves, says goodbye to V, who sees it odd that he saw a gnome today, and Mila makes her way to the communal potion tray, maybe some has a potion of mana for her. Nevertheless, there is a potion, but only one for mind reading. She pockets it, and she teleports back to the Call.
Pemi sings for Ilknar's loss of love and perspective.
Mila then finds Aikhon as they return from the fishing village, and she interrupts his quartermaster duties, those arranging food and storage for the crew. She wishes to know what Aikhon can say about who is father really is, but Aikhon refuses to divulge his thoughts to non-kin. They then, eventually, talk on how Aikhon did not destroy the scions, and Skiff's ghost even appears to clarify the involvement. Sasha and Deoy bet upon Mila's eventually attacking of Aikhon, but she resists and walks away. He will not blow up the Faces, he sees not benefit for that. They can work together to get the treasury, and Mila even clarifies she got the golden dragon scales from the deathes the King caused to the clutch of wyrmlings from the divine dream or nightmare.
