Session 94: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Arbiters, Dwarven Interlopers
General Summary
They are sitting awoke around the campfire, and Kaly's voice just echoed. But not her voice. Then, there are flashes of light. Nine flashes erupt around them, appearing to teleporting and appear from nothing to now something. They are small golden, metal plated and one-eyed constructs, that can hover off the ground, and wiled tiny swords and obvious magic as protection. Kaly recognizes them as arbiters of her home Mechanus, or at least where her powers are based. The scan into Kaly's brain for a few moments, shocking the rest of the party. Then more hover around the rest of the group, particularly Tenebris, scanning them as well. Eventually Kaly shocks awake, but she is unsure of their arrival, she says the group she prepare to fight them, even though they were not aggressive, and at that, the Arbiters begin to raise weapons and powers, but mostly to prepare for an escape.
Immediately Tenebris destroys four, and they explode in a flash of lightning and nearly stun and deafen the group in the process. Thus, they reorient their tactics, and use range to take them out quite quickly. Zanadar, the new tarrasque to join with them, is distracted by something else, beyond, and eventually Birdman cataches up to the beast to see it bathing it seems int he waters, distracted by mud. The arbiters have fallen, and the others talk of the strangeness, with Tenebris noticing they are indeed of material not of this world.
Birdman is watching Z, and he then is ambushed by a chain throw, and then another enshrouded dwarf brings him to the ground. Z roars, and the others engage. Soon Kaly reverse gravity at Amu's request, the whole battle turns aerial. It ends quickly though, for once they fall, earthquakes and fire storms finish them off.
Amu finds Z after the fight, in its same mud pit, and he tries to commune with it, to talk to it like one of the beasts of Barur. With Birdman's aid, they see it has a rudimentary understanding of Birdman like a brother to it, and the rest of the party being his pack. Then Amu also communes with the area, and he is able the hear the footsteps of the escape of the dwarves from the other camp. He had already flown over there as an eagle to see that the camp was abandoned. One group head's north by north west, and another heads, well at first east, then back west circumventing the party here, and presumably they are heading back to the ferry. With this, Amu walks the group over to a large enough tree, and he opens a magic portal between its roots adn the arth and they transport further west, closest to the ferry, thus getting ahead of the escaping crew, and presumably Vear, the last of the 8th House, he must still give up the word of power fo tthe release of the True Tarrasque.
As they leave, Kaly is the last to see, an arrival of a large contruct, appearing with teleport. It goes to the fallen arbiters, and then locks its eye with Kaly before she steps into the plant.
