Session 89: Always Buts: Cookies, Storms, Meetings?: Animaesus and Tarrasques
General Summary
Tenebris sends his first simulacra, Venator Prime, to the tarraque, the main beast, to harvest key ingredients for more of his spells. However, attempting to traverse through the mouth of the enormous beast at it breathes, Venator Prime was sucked into the wrong tube, and he ended up in the stomach of the beast. Before he begins to disolve, he attempts to teleport into the lungs, but he is unable to target the spell correctly. With this, he shapechanges into a devil beast, a Nightmare, and he is able to traverse through the Ethereal into the lungs of the beast. From there, he is able to transform again, into another devil kin, and use its powers, yet perhaps even his own, to summon a Nightmare for Tenebris to ride upon, to fly up to the top of the lungs. From here, he can carve into and through the muscles, membranes, flesh, and eventually bone of the spine. However, with the shifting of the beast of late, of his own inexperience as a Godbutcher, Tenebris nicks a key blood vessel, and a shiver runs through the tarrasque. The whole of the city feels it.
Tenebris' simulacrum then takes a few hours to harvest what it can, gaining a few gallons of pure spinal fluid, from the True Tarrasque. This priceless source, four gallons, is more than most even get in one sitting, let alone pure, and the sad part is, so much more went to waste in the process, for the simulacrum is very inexperienced. Nevertheless, it leaves, and begins to return to the tower.
Kaly Frieir finds her way back to the Blackwell Tavern, what is left of the nearly destroyed 10th House district; some of it was destroyed from the fall of the Stagecourts; however, most was purposefully burned by the wizard Lasi. Nevertheless, she is able to find what is left of the kitchen, and the stove and oven still seem to work.
Amu and Birdman have followed her, tired and hungry themselves. She begins to bake, using what she can for some simple oatmeal, and maybe raisin, cookies. Despite missing some key ingredients, the aroma intensifies, and many, well what is left, of the people and creatures of the City of Salt, those who have yet to evacuate. They are hungry too. Pio is also there, drunk and hungry as well. He consumes at least three cookies immediately out of the oven. Amu sprinkles some good mushrooms on his, and he and Kaly, and Pio, converse. Will the Binderlords come? Who will we have to force?
Birdman just eats and eventually passes out, his raiment doing most of the consuming for him; this is mostly by osmosis, absorption and consumption. Amu wonders of the Moustelin army is ready, and they only have a few days, but will they work together, this sylvan enemies, those of the city, and those Centaur from far north? Will they face the dwarves together? Pio sends messengers to the allied houses about the meeting.
Towards the end of the night, Amu trails off with Kaly, for he worries of her alignments and connections, unsure why the newness of her arrival is something Pio should want. Yet, he was looking for those willing to help him cheat the city.
They eventually fall asleep.
A few hours later, after the elves get some time to trance, the syth preparing for the next moves to end the city, to awaken the beast, the Tarrasque--Faurwiin has his own messenger sent to the gate, one of pio. The binder lord meets with the messenger himself, wanting to have the most direct line of information possible. Amu and Birdman, with this Kaly, are aready to move towards releasing the words of power, and in so doing, awakening the Tarrasque at the center of the city. This is shortsighted by Faurwiin's understanding; or, at least something they should have already acted upon. With this, the elf lord leaves, gathering his entourage, his sons, each mounting upon their metallic dragons, and he on his roc, Khairos.
Tenebris needs some other supplies, apparently, and he risks going to the 5th House, buying a potion from a smaller alchemist shop, but one of the older ones in the City of Salt. Thankfully, he has some of those gem stones to trade, and he gives a black saphire and a ruby to buy the potion of vitality.
As he leaves, Tenebris sees Faurwiin's dramatic charge to the center of the Keep of the Beast; the elf apprentice rushes to the tower, and with communication from Bora, he knows he should follow in order to assist his master, so he prepares his spells, and he does so.
With the roar of these seven dragons, the few of the city awake or hide in fear, and Kaly is one of the first to awake, with Birdman thereafter. Kaly rushes out to follow the metal-made dragons, and Birdman follows here. Amu still sleeps for now.
The dragons arrive at the beast, and the camps around the various seals awake. They begin to charge to where Faurwiin lands with these seven dragons, and his seven sons. They encircle him as the elf lord finds his way down to the 11th House, that which binds the heart of the tarrasque. He speaks the ritual, and he owns the words. They release, and the Kingsguard are now more, the beast heart's beat, and the thump is fast and unique.
The godbutchers charge, but those of the other houses eventually stop chasing, for Faurwiin and his sons soon leave, picking up Tenebris along the way, and only a few arrows to attempt to impede them. They fly to the 5th House, and to bring and end to the Beast of the City of Salt by forcing the Seals to be broken, to hopefully let the Shadow of the Beast guide the Tarrasque.
Birdman and Kaly give chase, and Tenebris is picked up by on of the now 10 dragons. Amu follows suit with Pio, turning into a jaguar for the bind lord of the 10th House to ride.
Faurwiin is almost to the 5th House, but somehow, they were able to prepare some defenses, and two canons fire as the dragons near, as they land on the first landing of the 5th House. A brawl begins, and soon those from inside join, a walking metallic golem, and then from underneath, Anton brings his own, Mechatarrasque.
Amu and Pio return to the seal, ready to release the 10th word of power, and avoiding contact with others as much as possible along the way. Not like there are many people left in the city by this point. Only those stubbon, anxious, lost, greedy, and/or power-hungry remain. The fight continues, and the sons of the 11th House, and master and father engage, with Tenebris as well, facing off against both contructs, and the guards, catalysts, and masters of the mechanical prowress.
Upon leaving, Amu creates a storm of vengeance above, one to build as he releases the seal, a reminder to those who have not listened to what has been foretold.
