Session 65: Scallywags: The Faces' Consequences and The Golden Stem

General Summary

After four hours of scavenging through the remnants of the Faces fleet, the Scallywags and crew find themselves a few hours to scour over gear and monies taken from the plunder, the rule of the sea, but also time to reflect on what really will come next.
Reggie Aldar, the Dwarven High Captain, calls for a meeting between the three main captains, each bringing three others with them, but he asks for it to be after night fall, a few hours still away.
In the time the divide plunder, and some do get a few hours to rest before the meeting comes to full swing.
From the Horizon's Call, Captain Brimstone brings with him his brother Aikhon, Roland, and Ilknar, and from the Pursuer, Mila arrives with Valentha Dovah, Pojin, and Valia.
Pojin breaks off and starts to carouse with the dwarven guards, and he stays on high alert fearing more will come from this monstrous Bloom. Valia, Roland, and Ilknar stand guard, with the latter influencing the waters and even the fire with his innate magics as the conversation rolls.
First Captain Aldar wants to know of the Kraken, and they speak of the magical depth charge that teleported the creature to another plane and/or crushed it to dust along the way. Then, they speak of what goals to come next, firstly of tonight. Reggie warns the group and Valentha eventually confirms with her own stories that at night a ghost ship lead by demon captains arrives under the guise of the night, where they too seek the plunder and riches of the Bloom and its Stem. They soon agree that going to the center, where the ghost ship seems not to sail, would be the best to solidfy their safety for a much needed rest. However, they also speak of what will come next, after one more day of plunder and survival around this alien entity, and Aikhon speaks of the Crimons Fleet, and how they will respond and understand, will report and punish the Faces' King, he who has enslaved and killed so many dragon born in search of some connection to the Wall, that which the Faces of the King governs and protects, that which may be one of the original birth places of the dragonborn people. Reggie and Valentha agree to join this Crimson fleet, for they want freedom for all of the Grey Coasts trades and peoples.
The Pursuer sails in first, towing the Call behind, and the walls of the bloom alsmost grab and crash into the call as they sail and caress like an embrace. This embrace almost pushes the Call further into the center.
The dwarves, seeing this, they decide to wait, and sail around after the opening is clear.
Once both crews arrive in the center, the shimmer on the waters reflects an inner knowledge they did not know before, and with that they are awed. Yet, they continue. And when they get closer, they soon see the light from the central stem igniting into radiant beauty. It took them a few moments to realize the light only formed because Mym, desperate in an attempt to break within the enclosed stem, blares his radiant dragon breath upon to melt and break open the golden apparatus. But, to no avail.
It is not until further investigation that they realize the slammed-shut mouthlike apparatus to this golden stem is greased with the bluish blood. Soon Mym explains to them, after they call out, and the dragon comes to bring them to the golden stem structure, and he explains how Holdar the captain of the zile attacked after asking for aid for his people who were also being attacked by the bloom's islands. And Mym threw the zile to the ground, to the water, but the zile hit the stem first, and his touch activated its mouth, and it chomped, this opening its throat, so Saerah could follow after. Mym was to large to follow after either of them. Roland does the epic jump with his new ring over to the golden structure.
Knowing this, Valia, by way of her ancient connection to the primordial of chaos Raez, and Aikhon, by just damn good deduction skills, both reason that the blood of another mortal is needed to open the stem again; enough blood to potentially slay the humanoid.
They debate on who and what, and Valia's spirit urges her to slay the young Mila or even the dragonborn Aikhon, but Valia wishes to sacrifice her own blood to open it. However, Aikhon has the zile blood he was gathering for perhaps some healing potions later on, but instead he uses his seven vials of troll blood and a cut of his own to sate the stem's opening just long enough for he, Valai, Brimstone, Mila, Roland, and Ilknar to jump in, where they fall for mere moments before a portal, a veil blips past them, transporting them to another dimensional plane within the golden stem structure itself, as if it is shrunk within its cells and materials that make its golden glints and structures.
They investigate within, and they find Holdar dazed and maimed, the stem having chomped his right side of his body, absorbing his blood and flesh in the process. Then they find two glinting openings, left and right. Ilknar chooses the left and begins to slam it open, eventually being assisted by Valia, while Aikhon discerns that the bloody footsteps of Saerah have indeed gone this way, but the bloody foot prints are being absorbed quickly by the golden structure of the stem. They follow it through a small tunnel, and then into a larger room with enormous golden statues. This room is blocked, and Valia begins to try to cut through, only to activate the ire of the protectorate of golden golems that rise up as shavings from the ground, statues, and ceilings of the stem structure.
A fight ensues, and Ilknar is slammed down readily by one, and then another while Valia saws through one at the same time. Meanwhile, Brimstone is flanked by a third seemingly taking from for the walls and tunnels of the golden stem's dimensional plane itself. However, Valia, well Raez within her, yells out with his primordial and divine essence for a means to control the chaos, for means to stop this level of bludgeoning and potentially death. The Stem listens, but the yell makes them all go blind for a few moments as their ankles and bodies are gripped by liquid hands and grasps. Only the dragon brothers and Ilknar seem unaffected by the petrification by golden gleams and grasps.
