Session 47: Scallywags: Gods vs. Kings and Swindlers, Too
General Summary
They wake up early the next day, and they begin plans lead by Aikhon for what and how the group will split to deal with this odd island and its telepathic force that emanates from the island. They notice that Firi and Peanut are acting oddly, and of course Deoy, so they break away from the island, sailing two hours back south from whence they came the day before. Here they take Firi away from the helm, and they sort out the different landing parties for the two tasks: investigate and discuss.
The investigation team is soon put aside, feeling that too much fracture to their goals would only assist the Sahuagin chants they hear from the island, Valia and Ilknar recognize. Aikhon, however, is able to descern their intent is that of prayer, to some god for some home to a dragon. Thus, they decide to take a small rowboat to the island, with only a small group. Peanut and Reddem insist on joining, and they do, but also with Ilknar, Valia, Mila, Roland, G, and Aikhon. It takes them about and hour and fourty five minutes to return, about high noon.
Once on the beach, they spread apart, and they hide, waiting for the entity of to gain contact with G again, and soon it does, after some magic from G. Ilknar notices that the entity is not actually here, presuming some sort of illusion. Meanwhile, Aikhon and G get back aboard the boat, and they almost begin following the entity. This entity promises them each their deepest desire: all they must to is swear fealty, and they must be baptized by this new god of the depths, of this ancient island.
Aikhong sees through this rouse, and he fires a hand crossbow quarrel to fell the illusion, and its minions, odd amphibious aberrations, rise from the depths on to the beach, and the landing party is forced to defend itself.
Peanut goes on a craze during this, and he entices and cajoles for others to follow him to the temple. Valia and Roland follow after him, with Mila following suite. Aikhon and G row to the cave, presumably the lair of this 'God', with Ilknar running on land to follow thereafter.
