Session 42: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Family and Therapy

General Summary

It is the 12th of Ghost's Memory, and the The Mores of Forest Salt have found themselves surrounded by blood and toil from gnolls, drow, and tarrasques, and as they wait for Eros to finish siphoning from the bodies for her mechanoid's, K'ash's, increased lifeforece, and for S'arrek the Sane to finish harvesting the innards from the largest tarrasque they slew, they take a rest, and even Stryke begins to carve more tarrasque meat for the group, a welcome meal to those raised on the monstrosty's flesh from their time in the City of Salt.
Additionally, there is obvious tension an this overtly windy day between the new and old members alike. The leader of this crew they just slew, Fedreina, Daughter of the First Matron Mother , stands guarded by two fellow drow, Sadar Colarr and Nuvelll Shallowbutter , both defendants and compatriots to Fedreina's own daughter, Althea , the adoptive daughter of Stryke.
Yet despite all this tension, and worry over claim and blood for the family that may have been lost and then found again, Eros and Trillo are able to brainstorm about K'ash powers and extent, finding that neither are capable enough wrights to understand how his mechanics connection to this ancient, contructed physiology. Nonetheless, Trillo does know Eros can find an easier way to harvest lifeforce from creatures to sustain and upgrade K'ash, but he also knows that magic itself, and the mana stored within magical items can be siphoned away from their bound sources into the K'ash and his power structure within his chassis; yet how this is done is hopefully something his reclusive people know when he, Eros, and the others arrive south there in the coming weeks. During this time, Trillo speaks on the truth and an idea that all good things seem to come from holes we yet to uncover.
Also, towards the end of this small break after harvesting, research, siphoning from the dead, and from interrogating Fedreina, S'arrek begins to summon Carrion Carl, his vrock protection, an abyssal demon, a powerful one, who lives and sustains off of the flesh of those recently slain. He is allowed to have his fill upon the drow and gnolls still present, and even he assist's K'ash and Eros with gathering up the bodies into a pile so that they can be burned in order to not rise again as an undead, lethal horde, for the tarrasques flesh and bones amongst this pile of meat and bones would only rise into something more terrible that mere zombies or walking skeletons. Easily enough, they collaborate together to bring this bodies into one pile, and S'arrek fires a ball of fire into the pile to begin its immolation, yet this also happens simultaneously to Eros pressing an unknown button within K'ash, releasing the stored energy that was gained from the slain bodies but minutes before; and with this release of the weave, a wave only compounds the fireball magic begin released from the wizard. The bodies explode from within the pile, flying for moments, before incinerating mere feet from where they were just piled.
Stryke takes one more opportunity before they change to take a day of rest, and he askes Fedreina about the spider-leg and claw shape he has seen before, but the Last Daughter of the Drow knows little of these things; she is a fighter more than a scholar. Thus, The Mores of Forest Salt  take a long rest, much needed, and begin again on the 13th of Ghost's Memory.
During this day, much discussion and debate is had on choices and actions for the drow addition to their party, Althea's presumed mother Fedreina; and after Eros contacts the Matron Mother, Fedreina's and Sadarr's mother, Althea's grandmother, and she also finds out from Birdman as well that the great Matron Mother has been slain, and the 12th House is no more, at least never in the way that Fedreina or any other drow could comprehend.
Thus Sadarr and Eros, and Stryke, try to work out a deal, a means for no more blood, no more pain to party and kin; to let Althea grow, and to let her sister Adira rest in peace.
Shockingly, this is more than Fedreina could handle, and her mind breaks, and she falls and cries, and bawls with abandon.
Stryke tries to bring Althea's mother back with them, she who has seen so much of the world of these last few centuries, and he even brings her rapier to her arm to hold; she takes it with a confidence of at least one purpose: her sword.
Moreover, Eros tries to convince the drow Fedreina to help her find peace, to help her work towards and future and acceptance that allows all parties to live, and for Althea, her daughter, to grow into a needed conduit for posterity. Eros then also communicates with Althea telepathically about how the young drow druid is taking this all in, and Althea seems ambivalent, and unsure, but admits to being open to a relationship with this new mother.
With hope, Sadarr, as the night closes, sits next to Althea, and he claims he is the uncle, and she accepts. He pats her on the head, and she leans in to accept him as a savior, and person for which this family can rely on.
Stryke goes to Nuvell, and he asks how the twins may have died, and indead, she explains, the Althea and Adira were dead when she was given them by the clerics who birthed them from Fedreina, and who convinced her of using herself for the political and magical gain of her Matron Mother. She blames herself for what has happened to so many other drow, but she soon realizes her folly, and how her saving two children in fact may make the world a better place.
Nuvell and Eros talk of the blooming love between Styke and the drow warrior, and Stryke talks to Fedreina: why did she do what she did? Orders. What made her pause? The cries of her daughters being born. Why should she need to continue that same life now that the 12th House is gone? She shouldn't have to.
Finally, Eros then goes to Roxana, Dancer of the 13th House , and they discuss the idea of family, of this new family, of this new direction, and Roxana falls for Eros more.
On the 14th of Ghost's Memory, a heavy rain sets in, and Althea predicts it will last for a couple of days. Styke and Eros, about lunch time, find themselves in a discussion of their pasts, their emotional connections, and how their family of misfits has formed so far togther.
Eros also sends a message to Birdman, to confirm some of these origins.
