Session 17: Scally Wags and Greycoasts: Hags, Dirty Suits, and The Deafening Queen Bess

General Summary

They make a left after defeating two trolls, and they find six trollkin, human in size, hiding around the bend. They attack these trollkin, and the blue-skins retreat further into the cave. This forces the Scallywags to follow afterwards, and after Skiff destroys one, and two other fall thereafter, Aikhon is able to convince with Roland's help that they should simply just lead them to the witches, so they can end this chaos. They forgot they did not just need a wellness check for the Willow Wench's sister; she cared little for that outcome, for all she wanted was troll blood for her concoctions. Only by the barrel of Skiff and Roland's strength holding the zile troll there did it finally agree.

The Zile led them deeper into the cave, promising through broken giant speech that it would need help moving stones, as the larger trolls hid and protected the witches behind. However, Aikhon, Skiff, and Teyos feel something is off, and the group soon realizes this would have been a cave-in to destroy them all. Skiff explodes the cave-in trap, and Roland grapples the zile to drag further beyond, to their real prey: these witches.

Here, Teyos leads the group further beyond, and they find stirges and a magical box with a key in it, after the magic explodes some green slime on the zile that Roland has been dragging behind the group. They open the nearby door with the key from inside the crate, and they find an orc, kobold, human, and goblin inside, where all but the human are marked with an arcane rune for the magic they bear. The group believes the story of these four, as prisoners for the witches deeper within. The stirges however, attacking Teyoe beyond the prisoner's section of the cave system forces the group to dig deeper into the tunnels, forging an understanding of the precipice they will fall after--maybe this was too large of a task for them.

Soon, Teyos is also attacked with magic from a young maid and a crone, and Roland, Skiff and Brimstone attempt to grapple and stymie the magic of the green eyed maid. These two almost convince the group of their presumed innocence if not for the draconic screams of aid from deeper within the cave that distract Aikhon. This entangles the group further into conflict, where the young maid eventually disappears with some magical aid, and the crone is overtaken in the next cave as she runs for aid herself from some five-eyed aberration. With the cover-fire and onslaught from Skiff, Roland, and the other scallywags--and Rognur's hypothermic grenade to destroy the crone and her eye beast, they make quick work to the back ends of the cave, where draconic screams become more acute.

This final cave has a green-skinned witch, a hag, with a small dragonkin bound within shrinking magical chains, vowing for the use of this magical creature's heart for her own dark aims. She is surrounded by fiend-ish pixies protecting a small iron flask with a bronze stopper. Before they can use it, Rognur stuns the green-hag, and the others disable or destroy the dark pixies, saving the small dragon from certain death.

Having cleared the cave, this Trollhold of Southern Feon , they gather and harvest the remains for use and for trade, and they head back to Feon to prepare for their departure.
