Session 112: Scallywags: Fallen and New Legends of Noia
General Summary
Within the passage, the Call is scuttled on the cliffs, and the Redwing soars above and around. While below, the waters gurgle and speak, wanting for death, wanting for lives. The sea rises and whirls, and the waters wreak a new havoc upon 43rd's vessel now coming into the passage. It churns and rises, and the crew loses hold the mangonel falls off the side, and the ship is laying on its side. Ilknar and Sasha dive into the water, and Mila flies above, casting magics here and there, but also able to hold the aberration within the depths. Lighting slashes and thundering hammers proceed, and the creature being frozen by Mila's magic, it falls easily enough to the might of these two new heroes and legends.
With this, a new focus arises, as more harpies filter out of the cliffs and caves. The swarm and gather, and begin to dive the the struck Horizon's Call and her crew. However, the Captain Brimstone is not for this idea, and he gathers the winds about him, and sends them to the caves and cliffs from where the harpies filtered forth. Many fall from the winds, and the waters sop their feathers, forcing them to swim, something they tend to avoid. This allows for the crew to load and fire cannons into the swarming monstrosities. With this, and Mila's magic of fire and paralysis, and Brimstone's Winds, the passage was overcome, for now, and the crews were able to come back together. Yet, one grouping of harpies, a chorus, sang together, and many of the crews follow the voice, run over the waters to their beauties, these heinous harpies. Yet, they do not last long, for Wulgar even summons a fire storm to burn them, and with that combined might, they are gone, these heinous harpies.
The group then prepares to reconvene, and wait for the remaining vessels that follow after them. However, they worry that there will be more harpies, and Brimstone knows his winds waylayed quite a few, and still do as he concentrates on the magical winds. Thus, Ilknar and Hrilda begin to plug the holes they can with boulders. Then, Brimstone, Mila, Ilknar, Hrilda, and some others, play game of whack-em-harpies, for any of those that try to escape. With this, the rest of the fleet is able to pass through the passage of Noia, perhaps even leave it a safer trek for those in the future to take.
They have the rest of a day, but they anchor in the Bay of Noia. Ilknar and Brimstone get busy to help the ships and others with repairs and fixes. The day seems to be one of progress. Wulgfar wants to meet with the captain and Ilknar, but he does not want to break the timing and continuity of the crew.
Mila and Will sit and pay respects and honor to the fallen of their crew, the two sailors who were taken by the swirling teeth and the harpies hunger.
Sasha collapses, for she helped aright 43rd's vessel and fight off the beasts and monsters. She is exhausted, and needs time to reconvene.
The next day, Brimstone gives a eulogy for the fallen sailors, and Ilknar continues the repairs of the ships, particularly Valentha's, whose long hull had a difficult time traveling through the passage. Mila spends time helping the crew of the Iron Sunset rest, with 43rds crew. She creates a magnificent mansion to aid with this, and she gives tattoos to the zile of the ship, as wellas 43 the captin, too.
Sasha takes in the new day, and with that gains further insight to the crew and their claims and ventures.
Deoy complains of no toenails from the monsters and beasts.
Wulfgar then arranges to meet with the captain. Ilknar is invited too. The claim to the throne is discussed, and Wulfgar feels the need to warn Ilknar and Brimstone of the sacrifice that must be made by the individual who claims, who wants to claim, the right to the throne. Orran reminded him of his own rights to the throne, and he had thougth back to the sacrifice his broghter had to make, one of legacy, one of family and clan: what is most precious to the dwarven people. The weapon of his clan, and to Wulfgar, it must be his faith and history to the wall and the primordial deities.
Ilknar knows of this, and Brimstone quietly listens. Ilknar knows of dreams and prophecies from Bilin and Annam, the giant progenitor. He knows though, as well, that more than bones must be used, can be used to sacrifice for the kingship.
However, Wulfgar warns of his bond with Nethpione. Yet Ilknar believes this little man knows nothing about nothing. He will sacrifice Wulfgar. He slams on the table and walks out.
Brimstone and Wulfgar remain together, and Brimstone asks on if the power of the wall and the kingship will change--did it change Wulfgar's brother. It did not. Although power corrupts, something else must have changed Boveen. Wulfgar's brother was the same.
Will Ilknar let the power get to him? We shall see.
MIla wraps up her evening with some spell experimentation with the Call. It can turn invisble. It is also here that Will asks her to go on the nightly scouting mission, and they find another Fleet, lead by a scion juggernaut and kobolds. This fleet waits in the Bay. The Scallywags must decide what else.
