Session 103: Scallywags: Fathers, Kings, and Sires
General Summary
Endrom, the loxodon chosen of the Faces' King, gets his axe beak under him, shares some insight of the four remaining chosen, the villainous aims the Queen will go to now to secure the throne.
Aikhon, Ilknar, and Mila, with Brimstone and others, argue over the body of the King. Mila doesn't see the need to cause more turmoil to the lands beyond his death, so she takes the body, and she teleports more the 1000 feet away, landing in one of the many open fields for growing within the walls of the Regent Tower's city, and the township the Rock.
The others gather, and they need a place to converse, the Dovah's at least. Aikhon wants to bring the others together, but many are more than a day away in travel, in hiding, fleeing.
Ilknar and Nethpione choose to go to the tower, and they must tell the Regent of the King's fall.
Mila also heads her way to the regent, but she finds wheelbarrow on the way to help carry the body of the king.
Brimstone, AIkhon, Sasha, Lord Dovah, and Ollie, they teleport back to the Call with Aikhon's voyager staff. Aikhon sends magical messages to Mila, Valentha, and Saerah. Mila refuses to join with Ilknar, with the body, before she returns to the Call, and Valentha will meet with Feanger, Steadfast, Bangrim, Yolov, and this other dwarf. Saerah is to meet with them, for he would like, Aikhon, to have the Verdant Escape, her living vessel, to be the meeting for her Dovah father and children.
Lady Sasha immediately goes to the surgeons, to look for Ganoi, the surgeon. Upon eating the flesh of these dragons these last few hours, she has an odd tumor growing on her, something connected to her nerves and tissues. However, he is not there, and Lady Sasha is impatient and in pain, and she gongs for the whole crew to awake, and for Ganoi. This prompts Kevdae to bring out leftovers, and a small return party is held for the Dovah's.
In the surgeon's quarters, Ganoi and Mercou attend to Sasha's tumor, and he wants to continue to attend to it, but he is unsure he can do more without the surgcial expertise of a Catalyst.
The celebration continues outside, the crew demanding the story of this adventurous night, of Regent's, Towers, King's, and the fall of dynasties. Aikhon gives in, and afterwards, he and Vumphesh gather, and their father reveals his true form to his first born. He talks of goals to the north now, hearing of Jormungdr's rise.
Ilknar and Nethpione make their way to the Regent, and the guards lead them through the stairs, walls, and other structures. They are then lead through courtyards to the grand palace of the regent. In a study for the tower, they wait. While they do, Mila hauls the king's body, through similar tunnels, and she is greeted by Regent Hornal Stormchaser as they both make their way to meet. They go to the studey together, and they investigate teh body. Revealing the king to be dead, Hornal is worried of the blame to be put on him, but Ilknar assures otherwise. Mila is worried for Barur nonetheless, for the Wall is a distinct connection to Barur and its memories. She wishes to experiment, to know more of what has been really done to the King, but she needs divine help, which is hard to find in these times. Or, to take his body to the font. However, the Regent and Ilknar agree to wait, and that the regent has a Cleric compatriot that may be able to help. However, they do reason the king has obviously been affected by transmutation, divination, and necromancy, so they must be wary on how they tempt the Weave's contraints with the king's body. The regent will have a box made, and he gets the others to find a place to rest within his palace.
Ilknar asks for a promise from Mila, that she takes them with her, no matter what happens to the King's body. They only have a few hours, a day tops, most would know, before the body will start to rise as undeath. He also has herbalists and alchemists that may be able to further help with this investigation.
Roland takes Lod's weapons and gear, and he has traversed through the city waterways over a borrowed small boat. He finds his way to the Lady's Den, and he digs a place deep enough to find the dry land of sand beneath. He lays lods body inside, and he finds oil, and other things to let it burn. The body is but ash, and he takes the lodestone warhammer of his respected trainer, and he sets it as a grave marker. He talks to the body, and he says goodbye. He regrets many things, not being there, not jumping in, not remembering the respect deserved to this old dwarf. Elerra comes near the rise of the sun, and she puts her hand on his shoulder, and Roland Odd breaks down walls, and he cries. He crumbles and falls in tears.
The group take a long rest, all but Roland, who after the night and the emotions stayed up all night.
Aikhon gathers the map, George, and his brothers to transverse further north. On the Unshackled Horizon, with the other Dovah children.
MIla checks on the Regent's Body, and Ilknar stays with it. Mila then goes to search for incense for a legend lore spell.
The Dovah's convene some hours later, but they change the venue to Saerah's boat. The Lord Dovah reveals that his true name is Gourn, and that Dovah, this character, is about 60 years old.
Gourn hints to his powers, the radiance and divinity of his children, to the connections to the Dragon Lords, the Wall. They could be it, but he might need them to help him achieve this ordained throne. Something that was taken from them from the giants long ago. It is not theirs, and the other mortals have done wrong with it, by evidence of King Boveen, and the dwarf before him.
He knows of the Bloom, and George confirms some of this divine purpose and perspective. HOWever, the group is unsure. George and Aikhon notice this idea.
However, Vareth is unsure, especially after being told he will be joined to basically be used to trade with the black dragon Dragon Lord, Jormungdr.
Brimstone is also unsure, and he wonders if his deity would approve. Dovah scoffs at this, and he wonders if the intermediate deity Tritherion is indeed the right choice for his son. However, Brimstone knows, that if Bahumat truly wanted to choose Brimstone, he would have already. He declines going with Dovah, to see the real truths of this Dragon Lord Bahumat, and his mother Ome. Lord Dovah will pray for his sons, and hopes they have made the right choices. Aikhon even offers to leave, however, this is not the the time, and the Lord Dovah knows if they travel further to the wall, it will entice them to join, to merge, to learn of the lands of dragons beyond.
It is not the time. It is time for family for a few days, for some time to convene and understand eachother. Then in the morning, they can get ready to sail away. The throne awaits, the Wall awaits, and the King's soul is not on this plane.
