Session 102: Scallywags: King Boveen Fiery Challenge and Claiming
General Summary
The scallywags come to wall of the Villa of Lod Darkspike, the enforcer Prime of the former Devil's Gambit. However, they are too late to meet with him, having already heard from Sasha about the King's encounter with this ancient dwarf. They hear metal clanging, battle waging, and they run to get closer. Roland knows this voice, and the King comes to a woman, a mage to the end, and parlays with her, but she is not swift enough to answer. Brimstone asks if anyone has any oil, and he begins to prepare his fire to attack the King as well.
Sasha is the first to fly up to view, and she watches the king finish the bloody job, and then he begins to walk away back to the open courtyard of the Villa. Ollie uses her powers over the shadows to teleport up as well, and Aikhon shares some of the pixie dust he took from the mage the other night, and he and his brother eat some, and thus, they begin to fly, float upwards over the wall. As they view and watch the king walk away from such carnage, Brimstone cannot help himself. He prepares his inner draconic powers, and he makes himself stealed for the next steps. He floats over the building, and yells out to the King as flames ignite around him, wreathing him in ancestral strength: Your have terrorized by people long enough! I am your vengeance.
The king stops, and he calls out to a Lord K to get away with his basket of gear, to take his warriors and protects and to run away. However, Lord K sees Aikhon look at him, and Lord K has a Silver energy in his eyes. He smiles at Aikhon, and then he turns to the King to ask for leave, but to have a quicker means of escape, a more protection at that. The dragon, it's guards, and his own, they will come with him. The King agrees, and then he asks for his two other chosen with him, Long Mist (a odd black-scaled coyote-kin) and Endrom (a bronze-scaled loxodon, or elephant-kin), as well as another draconic monstrosity, its warlock master, and archers and draconian black scales. The King spreads leathery wings and flies up to engage with Brimstone, Aikhon, Ollie, and eventually Ilknar. Ilknar first has to help Mila, Roland, and then Nethpione over the wall, throwing them yes, but Mila able to slow her and Roland's descent with her magic of feather falling, and Ilknar is able to set Nethpione on the far wall.
At first the sorcerous sends some simple cantrips, but then the arrows start to fly from the King's men, so she begins to control the winds about the Villa of the Enforcers, giving some much needed cover to Brimstone, Aikhon, and Ollie, who face off with the king three to one, and stand firm, but the King is ruthless, and focuses first on Ollie, and then Brimstone, with flails from his weapon tearing into Aikon here and there. The weapons hit, but the king is very resistant, but eventually Ilknar's might over the thunders of his forebears, of the sky above and its command of the sounds of the earth, and with the loud booming, Ilknar's strikes turn into the thunder of the storm above them.
Lady Sasha summons some cats, and then those cats, well fate, plays, and as one of the dragons attempts to assist the king, Lady Sasha's Grand Cat, the arch fey, comes to slame the dragon into the ground, allowing for Lady Sasha to begin pummeling it. From behind her, Mila and Roland pass, but they are soon engaged with the black scaled draconians and the might of Long Mist and Endrom, the chosen of the king.
However, this does leave Brimstone, Aikhon, Ollie, and Ilknar to face the king, and although he is alone, he is more than capable of holding his own. Soon his compatriots fall, and others escape, and he presses on, but from a distance, where his escaping Lord K can be seen, a roar is heard, and the basket and guards plummet to the earth. A mage appears, and flies about them, using spells to harm them even more as they fall, and to most keenly, keep the blue dragon, the Lord Ordunth, the mount of King Boveen, distracted, at least. However within this moments, this mages spells not only waylay this dragon, but they eventually destroy it completely. This worries the King, and he begins to start to break away, but the Scallywags will have none of it, and with Roland keeping Long Mist well grappled, wall dragged, and wrathful, and with Mila distracting and confusing Endrom--with Ollie assisting--the king has few to rely on, for even the dragon his distraction, his beast and creation, and his other creations get blown up in a desperate attempt for Long Mist to free himself.
The king tries to leave, but soon the mage appears, the dragon defeated, and the form changes shape to a silver dragonborn in blue robes, but with large metallic wings helping to keep aloft and land in the Villa of the Enforcers. Lady Sasha goes to assist after getting some more dragon heart to still her dark urges, and when she joins with the others to surround the King, even as he presses Nethpione (who had already escaped from another dragon, and she had been adding a chiling touch to his soul, the King's, refusing his living essence from the magic of the wall that seems to keep him alive, defiant), the King is nearly defeated. Lord Dovah reveals himself, and the holy aura to the ancients, he as Dragon Lord, defends these Scallywags from the King's attacks.
The king then takes his flail, crafted from an ancient golden dragon's might, and he calls upon the power of the wall, that which is stymied by Nethpione's chilling touch. The ground quakes, and he calls forth in a mix of Abyssal and Draconic, and the ancient deity, the devil, the daughter of Om, Tiamat answers. Five rays of light hit the King, and each light begins to transform him, but also take him beneath, to the Nine Hells, to be prepared, to be made ready. No not transform him, but prepare him for her touch. Her claw comes to grab his soul, and she pulls it away from the king's body. His flail boils away as sacrifice of the action.
For now, the battlefield ends with Long Mist's death, and Endrom's rattling confusion at how the power he has been given might indeed be corrupt. Ollie lays half conscious, but the king is dead. .
