Session 100: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Three Stomachs
General Summary
Amu, after hours of searching through this alternate plane of air and astral essence with the red dragon Bar'Mak, finds a floating island for both he and Bar'mak to rest. Amu doesn't seem to need to the full rest, his essence tied to another plane.
Yet, he does need to escape, and he is reminded of a spell that he could use to shift planes, to return to the material, Barur. However, he needs a tuning fork, and a blind plan shapes itself. The dragon is a direct conduit to the prime material. Dragons were the first mortals born, thus, Barur is more their home than any others. A dragon organ could be sacrificed for a similar effect to aim the shifting of planes to the proper effect and direction.
It takes some convincing, and the dragon agrees, if only for its own survival. They rest. Yet, later, after a few hours, a horrid wind storm takes over, spinning the island in many directions. Amu has the plants grow and harness into better grip and control during this chaotic, windy shift. Additionally, Amu is able to see from a far, some humanoid figuring seemingly directing this wind and weather. With this sight, Amu is able to turn the weather into his own storm of vengeance, forcing this alternate caster to dodge and weave, to escape the thunder and acid rain forming about them.
Kaly and Tenebris are with the druids and walkers, Jhir, Grary, Gormongr, Aether, and they must decide how now they will return to their original goal having escaped the onslaught of some Maruts, some connections to Kaly's god. There are few trees close enough to return, so they must rely on description, a very vague description, of the grasslands near the Lapids, the way the Dwarves, the Jourvians, are heading. This is generally not enough for a specific teleport location. Before they can finish their plans, a group of Walkers, presumably, two testudine, a pumthera, and a trochil--they come to investigate. The group tries to hide, but they are seen, and the fey and 'drow' do draw attention. Nevertheless, Jhir and Grary speak for them, and thent he group tries their teleport.
They are off course, and they have to leave the unconscious Amu behind with Pio and Gorgmongr. Jhir, Aether, Grary, Kaly, Tenebris and his fey are able to change shape to eagles to begin to travel back north and west, to head off the dwarven army that is arriving outside the City of Salt in a few days.
Birdman waits in the pools of the swamps outside the city. He finds as he finishes his elven trance that Eember swims to the sleeping tarrasque. Her intentions are worriesome, so Birdman intervenes. She is searching from something inside, and Birdman leads and invites Eember inside the beast, to the lungs, where his apartment has been lodged for Birdman's own rest and safety. There they talk, and she is lost, and she cannot find her purpose. Thus, she starts to be absorbed, taken in by the beast. Birdman sees that, and he notices the beast rise, and stand--in his full control. Yet, he does not want to see Eember fall for this. Thus, he lets her go, forces her in a way, persuades that end. Thus, he leads the beast west, in near full throttle.
Amu faces off against these air elementals, and he is able to thwart their initial attacks with the aid of Bar'mak. They soon turn invisible, these elementals, after a fire break attack from the dragon, and Amu calls upon and sacrificies some of his own life essence to transport the dragon and himself back to the material plane. The dragon's kideny was sascrificed, and then upon return Amu awakes, and Gorgmongr helps regenerate the health of the dragon.
