Scallywags: Session 4: Trolls of the North
General Summary
The Scallywags have boarded a goblin and troll run Orc Ram Hammer (fast combat ship). Ilknar injured already, continues the fight on the main deck, with Skiff firing Queen Bess (his unique arquebus) across the ship. The chaos of the battle aboard the orc-made ship soon leads Captain Brimstone and others to intimidate the trolls and goblins on the main deck, only successful because the goblin captain and his troll protector lie either unconscious, or thrown off the boat by the might Ilknar. Fear reigns for goblins and trolls, and Aikhon calls upon his ancient dragon roar to balance the onslaught of the enemy crew.
This leads Rognur, Skiff, and Brimstone (eventually) to start to move down below, waylaying more goblins and Zile (trollkin) from engaging above. Many of the goblins, however, were incinerated from Captain Brimstone, as his fiery breath was readied between the grates of the two decks of the Orc Ram Hammer. Many perish in the fire as Rognur and Skiff go below, taking out the few Zile who seem to be leading the goblins and crew, forcefully. Rognur and Skiffs attacks make the remaining goblin crew run aboard the main deck in fear, as they and soon thereafter Brimstone, engage with the last Zile, a hooked-hand chain spinner. Brimstone knocks him down the stairs, and Rognur fire both acid and healing darts in the process, for the Zile and Skiff and Brimstone respectively. They eventually knock out the trollkin and return upstairs.
During this, Aikhon sees the scrambling and grouping goblins on the main deck, and from the railing above he expels a strong gout of acid breath upon the unsuspecting goblins, killing over a half dozen. This causes the appeased goblin and trollkin on the deck above, the first mate as well, to run and roar at the death and carnage of their kin, who apparently were in the front of parley and surrender. The battle rages on as Skiff shoots Aikhon in warning for his ignorance about the parley and surrender.
The marines, these Scallywags , they slay easy over two-thirds of the crew, stabilize a few of the officers, and wait to deal with what waits hidden in the decks below.
