Scallywags Session 5: Zile from the North and Squid Skies

General Summary

In the dank and dark lower decks of the Orc Ram hammer, North Razor--a hybrid longboat and sailing vessel designed in the Wars of the Cladd--Ilknar and Rognur Cromsoms find themselves at an emotional and disciplined standstill over the life of a Zile. Previously the crew's surgeon, a hardened hobgoblin warrior and explorer, Rognur Cromsoms, had already stabilized this poor soul, this blue-skinned trollkin with a hook for a hand and spiked chain for his weapon. Yet, it would seem, Ilknar sees this creature no more than larger goblinkin, and they have been a taint here and there throughout the kingdoms of the Grey Coasts; but one that also balances, too. Thus, Ilknar sees reason in the elder hobgoblin's claim, that this Zile, Zea'rion , would be better alive and used to keep order with the North Razor's remaining crew as well as for sanity's sake, for the sake of the battle and ship that has been obviously already won. Fortunately, this convinces Ilknar to leave the zile to Rognur, and the giantkin bosun returns to the rest of The Crew of the Horizon's Call above deck. In darkness, the Zile with the hooked hand stands aside and rests while Rognur of the Cromsoms speaks with the remaining goblins barricaded behind barrels and crates. With some keen observation and subtle persuasion, the Call's surgeon discovers these goblinoids have been forced aboard this ship as slaves to these Zile, and they wish to speak with Brimstone, the captain who took their ship. With this knowledge, Rognur leads the zile upstairs to find Captain Brimstone and bring about some sort of peaceful end between the chaos of this day, the Sixth of Light. Logically, upon climbing the stairs, Rognur showed trust by trekking first above, but not before the Zile proved his own wisdom by removing his last weapon, his hooked hand.
Above deck, during this interaction of Surgeon and trollkin, Aikhon Dovah Rango , Skiff , Brimstone , and Dosgratin Bloodshoulder begin rifling through the contents of the North Razor, and near that end, after Rognur arrives with the Zile and his two fallen compatriots, Brimstone makes a speech about how he wants this to day to mark the last day of this crew's ruthlessness, that he wants to lead the Horizon's Call to a better future than past leaders, yet during this time, Skiff also spreads rumors to the crew about Aikhon's savagery, and the need for something to be done about it. Furthermore, on the deck of the Orc Ram Hammer, Nethpione helps a young goblin, Weebs "The Short Shank" , find courage amongst so much death. Yet, before more investigation is done, Rognur leads Brimstone and the Zile back down below deck, to convince the barricaded goblins of peace; yet, these goblins, it appears upon meeting them, wish to exchange 10% of the profits of their stolen hall of Dwarven Stone and Ale for their freedom, yet again claiming slavery from the Zile, and claim the lone Zile denies; and indeed Rognur is even able to confirm that the goblins and Zile have a more mutual relationship than one born of the abuse of slavery. Therefore, not surprisingly, the Captain agrees, and they use the North Razor as prisoner transport vessel by beginning to tie it off to the Horizon's Call and towing it to Feon 's docks. At the start of this, Captain Brimstone and Rognur Cromsoms search the captain's quarters of the North Razor, that of Boo'Bo , a mage they have tied and unconscious on the main deck back-mast. With little struggle, Brimstone breaks through the door and finds an older, dwarven chest. Not wanting to destroy the lock, they search the unconscious goblin captain's clothes above deck, and they find the key needed to unlock it. Smiling and glad, the crew now has ample funds to continue their adventures beyond the shores of the Chronoloc Isles . In the chest, they find some silk that has wrapped precious Goblin Bone Dice . As part of a peace offering, Brimstone, and unknown to him, gives these dice not to the current captain of the North Razor , but that to Weebs "The Short Shank" . A new star is born.
Later that night, the crew celebrates with glee, as Captain Brimstone has a private dinner with his mates, Nethpione , Thej , and E'krae as well as his brother Aikhon Dovah Rango . Remorsefully, the Captain begs for forgiveness and for a promise of a better trail forwards, of a tempering of anger and of pain, and of a reminder of how the past Captain created that cruelty out of abuse and fear to the sanity of the crew.
On the next day, the 7th of Light, First Boccob's of the year 698, another rainstorm hits the Call as its crew tugs the North Razor; potentially, this could blow them off course from arriving to the Docks of Ne before day's end. However, before the captain can even begin to handle the storm, he must also handle a scuffle between Galvan and the Animaesus deckhands; thus, Brimstone nominates Western Sunrise , E'krae , Ilknar , and Torth Morningsea to guide the crew through the storm, so he can assist Thej and Dosgratin Bloodshoulder with appeasing the crew, obviously struck with cabin-fever. Yet, complications arise swiftly, and Rognur Cromsoms goes to assist with guiding the boat being towed by the Horizon's Call , navigating through the storm, with Skiff acting as captain, Nethpione giving out orders, and Pojin Saenbibas and Gyc desperately trying to hold together the North Razor as it nearly spearheads the Call closer to Feon's shores.
It is at the end of this day, near two in the afternoon, the Crew nears Feon's dock but a few hundred feet away.
A loud sonic boom erupts from above, and all seek the sky to understand, but it is only Brimstone who spies keenly, but the rest of the crew only, merely see a glimpse erupt from the clouds far above--falling east to west. Plummeting to the southeast shores of the Chronoloc Isles--a falling air ship, flapping tentacles about its nose as it fall, almost as if the cling to the clouds and air for a slower descent, crashes in the the southeastern shores of the Chronoloc Isles; this falling ship from the heaves was too late to realize how vain that claim over gravity was on this creation of Barur/Earth .
It is with this shift that the Scallywags make a quick decision lead by the Captain Brimstone, and the The Crew of the Horizon's Call splits. For strategic and monetary gain, E'kraw will lead Nethpione with Weebs "The Short Shank" and his crew aboard the North Razor , guarded by Rald, Ganoi Ogopiy , Moura, Mascout, Galvan, Scepsi Fla , and Deoy while the rest of the crew goes with Brimstone aboard the Call to lay claim to this fallen treasure: an airship from the dark skies above.
