Arson, Brawls, Cloud Giants and Giantknappings; Session 11: Scallywags of the Grey Coasts

General Summary

It is after midnight, on the 11th of Light, first Moradin's of the year 698, Kevdae, Ilknar, Chatukik after some lost argument, discussion and travel through the District of Ne, find their way to Hilltopp. This is where the halfling thief, Kevdae, was taken and beaten. It was at her own choice, for rumors of her contacts hinted to a bronze wyrmling's heart, something the Knights of Ne at Hilltop do not necessarily need for themselves. They first gather kindling, oils from Chatulkik, and alcohol taken from the local tavern to create bonefire as a distraction. Kevdae also suggestions some target practice on some kneecaps, and the other two brawlers agree. Ilknar and the others watch as this part of Feon and the Knights of Hilltop react to the fire, leaving their keep, going to barrels and buckets and wells. The closet well to Hilltop Keep, Ilknar leads the two rogues, and they aim and take a knee to ready shots to any reactions to the giantkin, but Ilknar begins throwing a carpenter's hammer like that of Thor, taking out two of the guards as the others charge, about half ready and armored with from duty in the night and the other obviously awoken by the distraction still in their undergarments.
The rogues release their arrows, a knight grabs a banner and charges, and many surround Ilknar, angered from the first to he felled. Kevdae and these guards are able to stabilize them, but soon a veteran warrior joins with longsword in two hands, cutting deeply into the bosun of the Horizon's Call and receiving help from his fellow guards and bannerman. Kevdae and Chatulkik are forced to get into melee, and take advantage of Ilknar's large form to sneak attack down the veteran warrior and tire the bannerman of Ne. Chatulkik, in fact, murders the veteran with psychic blades that make the human knight believe his throat had been slit. Ilknar, then, orders the thrikreen sadist and Kevdae, whom he sought vengeance for, to retreat, and the bannerman and on guard of Ne follow, with another going for more aid for the fallen and the chase that begins.
The group breaks, and Ilknar draws attention in the northern square of the Ne district, but the crowd, the urchins, the streets gambling corners, all slow the giantkin down, and the bannerman stays on his heals, despite noises of thaumaturgical design, and crowds large for curiosity on the streets of Feon. Ilknar the charges west, through table, door and home, and the bannerman follows. Here, the bosun runs south, and exhaustion from running takes hold, but he dives into the Salty Siren, where the Keeths, Carmen, and his other friends are able to hide Ilknar from the eyes of Ne. The crew will have to deal with these repercussions at a later date, and by this time it is well into the late evening, 2am or so. Yet, the giantkin must wait longer still, exhaustion and sleep begging for his attention. He withholds his attention for himself, and the Knights leave, and Keeths and Carmen let him take a bed for a few hours to rest before they send him back to the Call before sunrise of the 12th of Light, 2nd Sight of Light, of the year 698.
He returns home early in the morning to find Rognur, Aikhon, Skiff, E'krae and Brimstone on deck where Aikhon is muzzled after having thrown up his own acid, coughing wildly. The dragborn bard storms away and finds in his quarters the gold scale and mustache left behind by those who muzzled him.
Then about 9am a cannon from the castles of Ne erupts and strikes the floating cottage above them, and commanders of the cannos yell, these Knights of Ne, with the aid of magic, "This is your warning shot. Leave! Or we will not warn again. We are protected by the King.
The giants return the favor with a boulder to destroy one of the smaller docks of Ne. "That is ours. You have until noon to give use the son of the King."
"We have no sons of the Faces here. Leave"
"We know he is here," the giants whisper through the winds above as their floating cottage goes to be hidden amongst the clouds.
Here, Rognur thinks back to tales of his youth, of that of the Shell King of the Grey Coasts, he who was king before the Faces pride at claiming so. Ilknar also as he remembers a bedtime story from his mother, who talked about the Shell Kings summer aboard the Chronoloc Isles, using Feon as his summer abode.
Ilknar hides away from the sky, Rognur sees if there are ways slow down the growth of the tentacled ship, as if the words of the sky awakened it for a new need, and Skiff admits to his wrong doing. This inevitably leads to Aikhon's muzzle removal at the cost of one of his teeth. Because of Skiff's choices to muzzle Aikhon, the treasurer of the call asks Skiff to handle the main business of the Call as Aikhon takes a day to heal.
During the wait of the giants for the son of the King, Skiff must go with E'krae to sell grain, buy canvas, wood, and sell their star saphire; they go the Master Stones for the grain, wood, and star saphire (90 pp, 400gp). They get some canvas at Froum's, but it is not enough, and Skiff and E'krae arrange for a mission stealing more from Samouel's Storage. With carriages rented, loaded, and returned thereafter, Skiff heads back to the Call.
Below deck Ilknar works inside with Gyc and Pojin and repairs and Gyc's new weapon, and they and the other crew still aboard watch as the people of the city rush to boats and barges to leave out of fear of other giants letting boulders plummet from above or even the aftermath of wayward cannon fire. This forces Ilknar, along with his own murmurings and curiosity, to continuously and boldly--even if his attempt was sneaky--to look out at docks and above at the giant's floating cottage. The keen sight of these giants of the sky, a cottage of clouds and wood and stone, they peer through windows and doors and see their quarry, the son of the Shell King. Their innate magics of winds and air help them float and fly down to the Call, after the cottage lowers quite quickly to few hundred feet above the docks of Ne.
When they land, the giant of a lower rank of the three says Ilknar looks like him, and Ilknar asks who. The giants, they look to him soberly, and they say he must come with them; however, Ilknar claims no such action will occur by him without a fight. A brawl of life, limb and crew begins, as the giants grappled the barbarian Ilknar hits, with Thej and Brimstone fighting one of the three to their own peril. Soon, the two around Ilknar overwhelm him, and he falls unscious as they fly back above away from the city Feon, the Call, and with their prize Ilknar. Scepsi the researcher, deckhand--the owlkin from lands afar--he grabs Rognur at his behest, and they slowly fly up to the Cottage. Skiff also with Dosgratin and Torth's aid aims the cannons at the Cottage, hoping to bring it down before the giants get the unconscious giantkin aboard their odd airship.
They do not succeed, as cannons are feared to hit the owl, who carries the surgeon, if not the bosun aboard his captor's ship, and Scepsi is hit by clouds from the cottage's foundation, formed into to stone projectiles, and he nearly drops the hobgoblin, falling with Rognur 100s of feet to the water surface; almost, he does, but Rognur orders him to dive back below. The Cottage disperses into the Clouds, and Ilknar, son of the Shell King is taken for purposes unknown.

Dosgratin: Well, maybe if we could get the Call to fly. They are heading south. Giantlands. How long before we see one of the ice ships? Bah, even orcs.
E'krae: He is one with the Call, yes, but I agree: we cannot fly.
Gyc: Cowards. These are but small obstacles. Surely the Knights, the dwarves... a wizard must be able to... no, at least one, right Deoy. Your ring?
Deoy: This is my first nail momento. NO. Fly yourself.
Dosgratin and E'krae chuckle along with Nethpione, and the tiefling says, I will follow our captain.
Pojin: He is our brother: Ilknar. We must find him. I say follow. Teyos ululates, akin to a dolphin.
The deckhands murmur Dupuis and the other Animaesus seem to agree with Pojin, but Galvan agrees with Dosgratin, as with Seren, Neroon and Rald.
Chatulkik seems ambivalent, but he points at Pojin for a few minutes with one of his arms.
Noodles: I follow Skiff.
Ganoi: If we are, we need to leave soon. How long before they reach land? We need to figure our where and why and how.
Scepsi: He looks to Brimstone and his mates, and he is obviously ready to go.
Yolov: I am skeptical, but perhaps. Hope is a fickle demon.
Thej and Torth: Look to Brimstone.
West is already at the helm waiting for the decision.
