Composition
A tarokka deck has fifty-four cards, each of which is named. Forty of them comprise the common deck, which is divided into four suits: swords, coins, glyphs, and stars. The cards of each suit are numbered one through nine, along with a tenth card known as the master of the suit. The remaining fourteen cards make up the high deck, which symbolizes natural forces. These cards are represented by a crown symbol in lieu of a suit designation.High Deck
The cards in this deck are not considered to be of one suit, although they share a crown icon to mark their importance. If the drawing of one of these cards in a reading appears to contradict an earlier draw, most seers would assume this card takes precedence.Tarokka High Deck
