Meeting Arabelle
General Summary
Excerpt from Seir’s Little Black Book (Session 9/20/22): Penned in Seir’s (slightly neater) Hand
(In a previous session, O, Letho, and Borokin heard rumors of saints’ bones hidden in the church. Found that they seem to have been stolen recently- from Father Lucien Petrovich. Khaylen spent her time in the camp with the Vistani. She believed that perhaps the girl had run away and was trying to feel that situation out. Zin and Thoradin remained outside of the city. Thoradin tried to sniff out Arabelle using a scent from an old doll of her’s. Her scent went into town, but then left the other side, where it went to the lake. Thoradin saw someone in a canoe throwing a bag into the lake, so he wolfed out and pulled the bag to shore. Arabelle was inside, okay. Thoradin then captured the guy in the canoe and put him in the bag, bringing him back to camp. When the girl woke up, she said, “Thoradin, you’re late!”. The guy who captured her was the guy who I saved from getting burned, long ago.) The next morning, Thoradin and Zin are at camp. Thoardin un-wolfs, and our party regroups. We tried to talk to the drunkard. He said that the fish weren’t biting. While I was trying to talk to him, Khaylen got into some argument with Clovin- apparently he was looking through our bags? The drunk, Bluto, said that the lake was hungry, and that Arabelle looked like she would fit in the fish. We quickly came to the conclusion that he was drugged sometime recently. He told us he had been in Villacki over the past few days. He said that he didn’t talk to anyone, and that he grabbed her yesterday, on the road between Villachi and the Vistani camp. Eventually, Khaylen puts Bluto to sleep and we get Arabelle to wake up. Arabelle says that she knows of Thoradin. Apparently, she has some of that Vistani future-seeing juice. She tells us that we should lie to her family, say that she had a vision and said she needed to go to the lake. She says she needed to be at the lake and meet Thoradin. She says that she thinks Bluto doesn’t have his soul. We formulate that maybe Bluto (and maybe some other soulless people?) are the ones responsible for the children going missing. Khaylen asked Arabelle about Madam Eva- she said Madam Eva was her grandma. Thoardin and Khaylen went to go return Arabelle, while Zin and Letho went into town to track Bluto and O and I went to the lake to see if we could find any traces of what has happened lately. When Zin and Letho get into town, Letho is visited by Majesto. He asks, “the man who came in before you- what happened?” He said that Bluto didn’t smell like he had a soul, but he didn’t know how he lost it. Apparently, he had a soul two days ago. He said that this is an unusual occurrence? On the lakeshore, I found a spot that a canoe looked like it had been beached. There, I found a small bundle, and inside there was a little bracelet/bell charm that looked like a personal keepsake of some kind. It has a scratched “B” on it. O spotted some movement on the far bank- a large stag, who stepped out of the bank and looked out at us. We didn’t see much else, so decided to stake out the location for the time being. Khaylen and Thoradin walked with Arabelle into the camp. Thoradin asked Arabelle questions about her gift- she said the most inaccurate vision she had was the fact that Thoradin came to save her later than she thought. She enjoyed talking with them and said that she was happy to have our group come by and visit her later. The Vistani asked Khaylen and Thoradin about what exactly had happened with her. They lied and said that she was on a vision quest. Arabelle’s father was not satisfied with this explanation but backed off for the moment. The Vistani busted out some wine and offered to let our party with them in the evening. After talking with Majesto, Zin rushes to go and find Bluto. He does find Bluto, but he’s in an alleyway, sitting on the ground in an alleyway, dead.
