Feast of Saint Andral
The Feast of Saint Andral is a Dawnic religious holiday held on the 15th of Eighth Moon, marking the anniversary of Saint Andral's martyrdom. The Feast is one of the most important religious festivals of the Dawnic Church.
Execution
The Feast features great bonfires which are lit in every observing community at dawn on the 15th of Eigthth Moon, which are supposed to be kept burning until dawn of the following day. Observers are encouraged to give lectures, and read poetry and other forms of prose around the bonfires, after which they are expected to lay a butchered animal carcass into the fires, to be cooked and served to all onlookers. Typically so much meat is cooked during the Feast that leftovers are smoked or turned into stews for days, making it a favourite for the poor.
Some communities throw the remaining bones after their meals into the bonefires after, with the idea being to attempt to fish them out again. The cracks formed in the bones from the heat are believed to speak great truths to those with the skill to read them.
