Black Iron

Black Iron is a special metal that only found in the Iron Spikes of Novakuzran. Black Iron is the strongest natural metal in the World. It is super malleable and when used for forging can be heated and cooled incredibly quickly. Thus, resulting in better weapons and building material. Black Iron is very plentiful but Hugo has such a strong grip on any Black Iron that is mined or traded to the neighboring continent Baephios.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Matte on the outside, but when cut into (raw) is glossy like obsidian. It is shockingly dark and eventualyl lightens the level of black when heated.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Very very malleable when it comes to forging weapons and building with it. It is the strongest known metal in all of Baltharos.

The large gates are made of Black Iron as well as most large buildings in Hugo City.

Geology & Geography

Black Iron is only found in the Iron Spike mountains in the Eastern District of Hugo City.

History & Usage

History

Black Iron was first discovered by the ancient native elves that were using it for fashion and armor, but Hugo the conqueror decided otherwise. After Hugo the conqueror took over Novakuzran he found the Black Iron and immediately started to put it to work. Exporting it and selling it making a profit to fund the eventual largest society in the world, Hugo City.

Everyday use

Black Iron is very rare in terms of raw ore on the streets. You will only see Black Iron being shipped to the Northern District or sent to the N.I.C.E. Merchants from Baephios almost purely come for Black Iron.

Industrial Use

Hugo City is the most technologically advanced society in the world. The use of clockwork, steam and magic makes the city very advanced. The most recent invention was the invention of the Airships. Due to the light nature of Black Iron it made the mold of the bow of the ship sturdy but easy to fly. Also the Hugo Express is made completely out of Black Iron. And don't forget about the walls of Hugo City as well.

Refinement

Black Iron is very pure and can be destroyed easily if not prepared correctly. Hugo II was the one to figure out the refinement process. Black Iron requires the ore to be in direct moonlight for 3 moons then submurged in sea water to be properly prepared. Then actually forging with it requires veteren Blacksmiths to forge into what you desire.
