The Carovarian Legions
The Carovarian military was divided up into a number of legions, each made up of roughly 5000 men in a combination of infantry, cavalry, and archery. During the High Carovarian period (that of the middle to late republics), there were twelve total legions, each represented by one of the zodiac signs, as follows:
I. Eagle
II. Lion
III. Bear
IV. Trident
V. Minotaur
VI. Horse
VII. Boar
VIII. Centaur
IX. Serpent
X. Wolf
XI. Hydra
XII. Scorpion
Much later, during the Imperial periods, the number of legions grew along with the bounds of the empire, until during the late Imperial era, there were at one point more than 50 separate legions, and their representation became more fragmented and less uniform. The Double Headed Eagle came to be known as a general symbol for the Carovarian legions as a whole, and topped the standards of any legion, regardless of their individual representative creature/symbol.
Structure
The structure of the legions was as follows:
Each legion was divided into 10 cohorts of five Centuries (which each had around 80 men), as well as 2 Cavalry units totaling around 240 individuals each.
