Alfagora

A god of some import to Veymar, and considered one of the deities of national identity. Alfagora itself appears to be the "Carovarized" name of a more local and ancient deity, likely swept into the ever-growing Carovarian Pantheon when Veymar was brought "under the leash." Being legitimized in this way allowed the Veymaran people to continue to worship their god in what is perhaps a more "acceptable" way to the sensibilities of the Empire, while also allowing them to tax and regulate that worship. Not much is known about the actual nature of Alfagora's origins or original portfolio, but she became the goddess of statecraft and diplomacy in the growing identity of Veymar as a nation. This has led to her eventually representing Veymar itself in much of their writings and literature mythologizing their own identity. Sometimes, Alfagora and Veymar (or at times Veymara) are used interchangeably in these texts, with one prominent example going as far as a direct metaphor of Veymar being presented as the goddess Alfagora struggling against her sister Roune's profligacy to the south and her illegitimate suitors to the east and north attempting to "take her to their beds." The major theme of these tales is that Veymar needs to make her own way in the world and develop her own true leadership through which all other lands will be united under the just laws and statutes they alone have the wisdom to enact. In recent years, of course, this has been coopted by The Iron Saint in his own version of the Empire's propaganda, taking the concept of Veymar as the true heart of the Empire, and that this new "Carovar" is redeemed primarily because it is Veymaran at its heart. Under the Carovarian pantheon, she is said to have been birthed of pure Theogenesis from Caros  himself, though the original myth, lost now to time, is almost certainly much more fascinating.
