Royonne

Capital of the realm, its populace has a fair share of nobles, who rule the nearby fields - other than the ones the dynasty has kept for themselves. A semi-circle of mountain peaks protect the city and the surroundings from enemy attacks, while the most important trade routes meet in the valley. The nobility's extraordinary needs attract many merchants and craftsmen dealing with the finest products. All sorts of oddities can be bought within the shops surrounding the market, from arcane objects and ancient tomes to the finest silk and jewellery. A famous college is responsible for the education of the young nobility as well as future secretaries and courtiers. The city's scape of old, dignified buildings and noble residences is spotted with large, well-kept gardens to the delight of young nobles and especially thoughtless children who are still unaffected by the political intrigue that runs in the realm's very core.

Infrastructure

Royonne is on the contact point of two main trade routes, the Obsidian Road and the Alathiy Path, the latter originally used by the Elves. The city has a complex system of sewers, but they are for the most part, under close surveillance, so that no surprises may occur.

Points of interest

The Syronian Academy is one of the leading institutions of the realm, teaching not only practical, economic, political knowledge to its students, but having a famous department of anthropology within its walls. For some time, Syronian monarchs were coronated here. Some of its famous professors in the past included Sir Alarick Soarsey and Bromelia of Arkenne.   The Arearic Cathedral is the citadel of the Arearic faith. It houses the First Priest (or Priestess) of Syron, and many other acolytes and clerics, servant of the gods and often masters of the divine arts. It recently became the coronation place of the Cyrrel dynasty; the imposing supporting pillars and arcs becoming witness to the rising of each new monarch. It is also a symbol of the dynasty's faith.   The Crescent Pillar is the name of a monument - a sort of obelisk engraved with names - that stands in one of the frequented squares of Royonne. It commemorates those Syronian bright elves who were unjustly prosecuted, murdered or forced into exile during the reign of Othmar Cyrrel. It was built as part of a formal apology towards the bright elves from the Cyrrel monarchs, and a promise of alliance and peace in the future.
