Vaatnið, Drowned God (Va-at-nith)

Vaatnið was created by Animos, Soul's Father and banished to the seas. He was not given a choice or freedom as he is forced to remain within his realm. This greatly angered the newborn god, and in retaliation, he began to infest the seas with life of his own, mighty beasts with highly destructive capabilities. While Vaatnið believed he was fighting against the prime gods, unknown to him, he was doing exactly as the prime wanted. He was a vessel to create life and challenge mortals to be stronger and evolve. Vaatnið had become a tragic vessel for gods' will and the separation from the rest of them had changed his status from god to myth or monster. His followers also reflect this difference since they do not possess a church or religion but more of a fanatical cult structure.   Vaatnið claims the sea beasts as his creation. He is known to be untamed like the sea and his creations reflect that. Pandora's oceans are his domain and sandbox, where his mightiest and most dangerous beasts roam.   His form is unknown even to his believers but he is said to possess ten Iascs as the base of his physical form with a kraken as his core. The head, a mass of ever-consuming tentacles with a black void that could either be an eye or a maw. While his form is mostly unknown, he is usually represented by his crest, a full circle with snake-like protrusions over two waves. The symbol is not painted or sawn into clothes but violently carved on temple walls and on some fanatical occasions, on the bodies of his followers.   Vaatnið might be a god but to the common folk of Pandora, he is more of a sailor's boogeyman. Most people have some level of superstition and Vaatnið is a vessel for such behaviours. In the waters of Pandora, it is not uncommon for a missing person/sailor to never be found, some believe this is Vaatnið's doing, that he collects the drowned or dead of the sea in a net and carries them to his children, sea beasts. Many believe that just speaking of his name causes a disaster at sea or a sea beast to go wild and kill a boat of kind sailors. Saying the name could pull multiple different reactions from people, some shock, some anger or for the followers, a calm, menacing smile.   The people of Pandora tell stories to their children about Vaatnið fishing for children at the shores, easy prey for his inescapable net, scaring them off the sea. Many even villainise their followers to make their children scared of going to the oceans or shores alone and stray too far from their parents, in fear of the followers.
