The Canon

The Canon is a collection of texts on which the basis of the religion of Zenithism is founded. The earliest texts in this lengthy tome were supposedly transcribed by the Great Prophet Aurelis from the words of The Great Zenith themselves, and were later added to by accounts of later saints of what would later become the Church of Zenith.   While the original tome is held by the Church of Zenith, copies of the book are mass-produced for the public.

Purpose

The purpose of the Canon was to record Zenith's teachings, as well as relevant histories & myths of the Zenithian faith.

Historical Details

Background

The Canon is the Holy Book of Zenithism, compiled from various writings, accounts, hymns, prayers, poems and prophecies by Saints of the Church and all linked together as an anthology tied together by numerous revelations of Zenith and their angels. Zenithism, and by extension the Canon; is the basis for the culture and political structures of most of the world.

History

With the Canon's initial publishing centuries ago, Zenithism became the dominant religion in the lands of Aurelis before they were rendered desolate by the Cataclysm, before the Zenithians left for newer lands to colonise.

Legacy

The faith that would eventually become the cultural behemoth that is modern Zenithism was started by the publishing of the Canon, turning the land of Aurelis into a kingdom under Zenith. To this very day, the Zenithians are still the majority religion in Azos.
