Outer Plane Shards

The Outer Plane Shards are rumored demiplanes thought to be remnants or echoes from planes of existence that existed in the First Age before the Severance. They are broken pieces of these planes that were cut away, leaving them to become dead and dying demiplanes.   Nothing is widely known about these shards, as they are incredibly far flung places and dangerous to get to. As such, their existence is debated and unclear.

Description

Long, long ago, during the Age of Creations, it’s said there were other outer planes than the ones that exist today, locations where divine and fiendish creatures came from. After the Severance, stories of those places disappear.   As the old gods were shunted from this universe, these planes were dispersed. It is unclear if broken pieces of these planes were cut away, leaving them to become dead and dying demiplanes, devoid of the power they once had. Rare and hidden scripture sometimes refer to these remnants as Outer Plane Shards.   When the Dragons emerged, new divine planes of vast size were created. Some creatures that inhabited these shard planes may have relocated to the new divine planes as refugees, vagabonds, or leeches, now relying on the energies of the Dragons' planes, or forced to fade away along with their dying shard.   It is unknown how many of these shards survive into the Fifth Age, or where they may be in the Astral Plane. However, two are mentioned in myth and scripture: Esturk, The World's End, is said to have claimed The Hells and The Abyss for his own before Avianor, The Timefather, sent the other shards away.
