The
New Keeleon Bull Races are a yearly event hosted in
New Keeleon of the
Queendom of Keeleon. These races are held annually as part of the
Champion's Conquest holiday celebrations in the city. The racing event is dangerous for both racers and onlookers, but it is incredibly popular to the orcish culture of New Keeleon.
Description
The annual bull race is a stamina, strength, and endurance activity involving a number of riders and their orcish bulls. All skill groups race together, and a variety of bulls can be entered into the race, though the best performing bulls are usually bred and trained specifically for this sport.
The racetrack is the
Orc Highway through the city of
New Keeleon. The path is usually from the southern Mud Ward, through the center of the city, and out north to the
Cereus Compass.
The track has no fencing that separates it from the roadway, meaning the track is through a living city. There is an expectation on the riders to manage and control their mounts, however it is known that bulls can sometimes lose control and rampage through the crowds.
The racing is physical and heavy contact is encouraged. The crowd often gets involved in the race as well, and much coin is bet on the races. While direct interference is frowned upon, citizens do often take actions to attempt to influence the outcome.
The sport is incredibly popular and the racers and bulls enjoy levels of noteriety and fame in the city. Fandoms develop around riders and bulls, and many onlookers will decorate themselves to match their favored bull's decorations and fur color.

History
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
Before 5A 342, Vuvee and the bull, Sunset, were champion racers with strong reputations in the city. This reputation would continue on for many years as the bull aged.
Kuad and his prize bull, Bessie, were the victors for ten years straight between 5A 342 and 5A 351. Kuad gained a large following during this decade and was considered unbeatable, despite Kuad's advanced age.
On 19 Adroth 5A 352, the annual bull race was won by the newcomer
Arwin and his bull, "Rooomy", which was a
Wild Shaped Romulus. During the race, the veteran bull, Sunset, died on the track without finishing the race.
