Droklosug

Droklosug, or Demon Ball, is a Keelish ball sport played by two teams. The sport is loosely based on the Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes and is often played in New Keeleon during the Champion's Conquest holiday.

Description

Droklosug is a ball sport played by two teams. One team consists of six players, called the "Champions", and the other team consists of twelve players, called the "Demons". Players are often naked and decorated with colored clay and body paint to denote the teams.   The game is played on a large field that is usually filled with mud or wet clay. In the center of the field is a large flag pole, which serves as the goal marker.   Droklosug is played in six rounds. The "Champions" goal is to rush a ball to the center flag before time runs out each round. The goal of the "Demons" is to prevent this through physically blocking them or pushing them back until time expires.   Play for the "Champions" often revolves around wide circling of the field to generate openings, then making rushing attempts towards the pole either through physical drives or passing strategies. Play for the "Demons" often involves defensive players encircling the flagpole to obstruct advances and offensive players rushing forward to harry and disrupt the "Champions".   It is a very physical sport and injuries are somewhat common.
