Azimuth 2 - Session 41 - Stocking the Priory

General Summary

Rill Priory

Early Morning
In the morning of 20 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers heard the commotion of several carts approaching the Rill Priory.   Captain Ruslan opened the courtyards gate and allowed Barg, the contractor, to enter. With him were several carts of furniture and supplies being pulled by previous members of the aid caravan, Cirro, Mardum, Malagat, and Dodim, who the group recognized.   Barg and the others started distributing the fancier furniture and estate items Demitri’s gold had purchased. He shared pricing information he’d gathered for the group’s extra projects. Barg said to just let him know if anything else was needed.   As Mortimr awoke in his room that was lined with a sheet of lead, he heard the entity in his head say, “You did well helping that old orc with his daughter. Such a sad fate to be so far from someone he loves.”   The group discussed staffing needs and funds for the Priory and additional projects. They decided to hire some staff to attend to the Priory while they were away.   Then, they spent time more thoroughly investigating the Dragon obelisks in the atrium shrine. The metal circles with Dragon iconography were moveable. Romsca, Ilmendwyth, and Arwin moved the symbols around into several different combinations, but nothing strange seemed to occur from any of the orientations.
Nalt Oknar Rulla
Later that morning, Nalt Oknar Rulla arrived with several queensguard soldiers. She was happy to see the investment the Lightbringers were putting into the Priory. Arwin asked why she wanted to visit, and Rulla said she wanted to speak with Demitri and Romsca.   Rulla asked Romsca about the Hands of Ore. With the Commandment of Sky Guildhall shutdown, Rulla wanted a different organization to work with the city for shipment and caravans. New Keeleon was between the Darksteel Foundry in Porgorag and the Brondor Urbaz in Thoriktown, so she asked if the Hands of Ore would be open to starting the process for a new guildhall in the city.   Romsca said she’d be willing to put forward the request and asked for a favor in return. She told Rulla about the deserter, Drok. She asked for him to be forgiven for not answering the draft and allowed to instead work with the Hands of Ore. Rulla agreed, saying the draft was coming from the crown as the threat of two conflicts was growing.   Rulla then talked to Demitri about his application for the city’s coinguard position. Seemingly as a test of his intuition, she provided a missive she’d received from Guild Marshal Hagar Krugg on behalf of the Tarterian Traders:
"Notice from the Dispensary:   The Tarterian Traders are saddened by the news of rogue actions that took place illegally in one of the guild's facilities in New Keeleon. These were terrible actions by crazed persons not affiliated with our guild. We assure you, those who took part in these crazed actions do not work for us, and we condemn those actions.   We regret the lack of Tarterian Trader leadership in New Keeleon that allowed this so-called cult to break into and illegally use our facility. We have fully cut all official ties with the Commandment of Sky Guildhall.   The Tarterian Traders are fully working with the Guild Marshal to ensure we can contine being a strong force of support and aid to all of Keeleon, to strengthen the merchant class and bring prosperity and peace to the Queendom."
Demitri was concerned about possible connections the guild may have with the Guild Marshal. Mortimr called the message bullshit and brought up the widespread connections the Tarterian Traders had that they’d seen. They didn’t believe the words of the Tarterian Traders could be trusted.   Romsca said the merchants were already prospering without the guild over them. Demitri said to Rulla, “If I could go further, if you want the Hands of Ore in and not the Tarterian Traders coming to crawl back into their empty shell, you need to move quickly.” Demitri also mentioned his connections to Adamski Sokolov and the boxes they found in the Chamber of Titles. He warned the Nalt Oknar to be cautious.
Around the Priory
With Barg working and Rulla leaving, the party elected to go about their own actions for the day.   Ilmendwyth received a message on his Sending Stone that said, “No birds at the feeder. Your parents say more leaves turned, they’re asking about it. For me, anything else about that raven-to-vulture would help my errands. He’s not answering my calls anymore.” Arwin overheard the message and Ilmendwyth’s reply, but didn’t understand the coded meaning.   Romulus created a new garden in the estate’s courtyard and set to work planting a variety of flowering plants, including some foxglove and wolfsbane, as well as Blue Poppy flowers for Chaka. He set birdseed and nectar around the tower to attract wild birds. At Arwin’s request, he also used his magic to create a sand garden among the pollinator bushes.   Meanwhile, Ruslan and Demitri put forward some gold to fund the estate. Demitri spent time hiring a few staff members to manage the Rill Priory while they were away.

New Keeleon

The Loam Altar
Chaka went to the Loam Altar, a shrine to Gaia, The Allmother, where he saw the muddy damage covering parts of the brick arches and growing plants. He spoke with one of the greenstenders there and learned Nedurr, the Mud Mage, had been seen fleeing from the altar after the damage.   Chaka went to Argilla’s home in the Highland Hills and spoke with Nedurr, who was still hiding out there. Using crafted clay, Chaka tried to get Nedurr to share his version of what happened. Nedurr conveyed that he had been eating the free food at the Loam Altar when the mudmutts accosted him. When he wasn’t able to deter them and they muddied the altar, he ran away.   Chaka tried to convince Nedurr to come with him to clean and repair the altar, but Nedurr resisted leaving the home. Alone, Chaka returned to the Loam Altar and used his Prestidigitation spells to clear the mud and clay.
Shopping and Stocking
Arwin purchased various supplies and materials for his arrows. However, the Warden Rangers had cleared out many of the items he was looking for as they had prepared to head eastward. Gralphank's Ten-Foot Pole Emporium was sold out of the magic items Arwin was seeking.   As they shopped together, Romsca asked Arwin about the Axe-Breaker wood branch she had. Though it wouldn’t make a practical bow, he felt it could make a strong base for a halberd or spear. Arwin said, “The only person I’ve known who could bend such a bow made out of something like this is my brother.”   Romsca asked about Arwin’s brother. He continued, “He’s a monster of a man. He’s as stubborn as a git. We aren’t on the greatest of terms. My brother said I should’ve stayed at the abbey, but here I am.” Rosmca said her relationship with her older brother was similar.   Lastly, Romsca helped Arwin find an animal vendor in the Victory Market. He purchased a riding horse and cast Speak with Animals to converse with an extremely chill falcon.
The Mud Ward
Ilmendwyth had questions about Rudok and the interactions he’d had with the Tarterian Traders. In the southern Mud Ward, Ilmendwyth tried to track down any word or traces of him. Rudok had seemingly left town, and Ilmendwyth remembered Rudok had mentioned returning south when they’d last spoke.   Chaka also went to the Mud Ward to follow up on the side quest Gralphank had mentioned to him. He tracked down Aramish, who was a young, skittish tiefling. Though initially defensive, once Chaka mentioned Gralphank and Chaka presented “Work #10: Frozen Fleet Post, The Ice Ways Settlement”, Aramish opened up some to him.   Aramish needed a particular moss, called Blood Oyster Moss, which only grew in the Underdark. She said a colony of the moss had taken root in a cistern beneath the Highland Hills, but she was being prevented from entering the sewers by the city guards.   Chaka said he would try to get the moss for her and would seek out Aramish again if they were successful.

Rill Priory

Regroup for Dinner
The Lightbringers regrouped at the Rill Priory in the late afternoon. Over dinner, they discussed their immediate plans.   Chaka brought up Aramish and the needed moss beneath the city. He explained the trade he’d arranged with Gralphank, and Romsca agreed it would be a way to both benefit someone in need and grant needed supplies for Chaka’s magic.   The group agreed and decided to head beneath the city tonight, with the plan to rest and regroup, then leave southwards in the morning.
