Melissa was born to a middle class family in the village of Naswall, near Lanaran. She is the middle child of three, having an elder sister and younger brother. Her uncle was a scholar in Lanaran, and she immediately took to learning about history from a young age thank to his influence. She managed to study under him and was offered a place at the Begara University.
Since then she has lived in Begara and has become a leading scholar in the field of Ancient History.

Melissa has several degrees in her field and continues to be a leading researcher.

She discovered the existence of a further relic, The Blessing, which was rumoured to hold similar powers to the Goddess Jewel
Mental Trauma
She accidentally outed her younger brother and his lover to her parents. They had undergone a Binding and had been seeing each other in secret. In outrage her father deliberately separated them and forced them to become Unbound. Melissa felt extremely guilty for this and for not having the strength or means to help them, so she severed ties with her family and now no longer speaks to them.
She visits her brother and his lover at the Asylum where they are kept.
