Rayne "The Jock" Dwohn'son

Rayne was initially a typical halfing boy from the halfling village of Dwohn, but everything changed when a band of Orcs raided his village. As the only survivor of the raid, Rayne was taken captive by the Orcs. In the Orc band, Rayne was forced to either toughen up or die like the rest. Rayne honed his skills and his body, joining the clan on hunts and raids and readily trying to prove himself to his captors. Because he was the runt of the clan, he had gained a sarcastic nickname "The Jock" comparing him to Jockies riding horses much bigger than themselves. Despite this mocking (and somewhat affectionate, in its own way) tone for the name, Rayne decided to keep the moniker as a way to make it mean something else. While he would never admit it, Rayne strived for their approval, and while the clan would never admit it, he had received it.
As time went on, Rayne set out on his own to prove himself and landed on the newly established island nation of Cierosen, a land he had heard was teaming with strong creatures and unexplored lands.

Rayne is motivated to prove to the world that small folk such as halflings, gnomes, and dwarves can be just as strong as the other races. He regularly gets frustrated with being underestimated and will go out of his way to prove himself and protect other small folk. (He is still friendly with other races, he just has a special place in his heart for folks like him).
