Orman Cat Deer

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Orman Cat Deer is a very small deer, the size of a house cat, that lives in the forests of Orma.

Genetics and Reproduction

These deer breed in the autumn and give birth in the spring. Does usually have one to two fawns each spring.

Growth Rate & Stages

Orman Cat Deer are considered fully grown and sexually mature at one year of age. However, breeders of domesticated deer will wait until they are at least three before breeding them, as younger does tend to lose their fawns during pregnancy or have other complications. After fifteen years, does are considered too old to safely breed, though in the wild they willc ontinue to breed as long as bucks mate with them.

Ecology and Habitats

Though they can live in any domestic environment provided they are cared for properly, in the wild the Orman Cat Deer lives in the dense forests of Orma, where it moved among the dense vegetation.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Orman Cat Deer thrives on dried leaves, small twigs, and newly sprouting plants on the forest floor. These same foods must be supplied when they are in captivity.

Behaviour

The Orman Cat Deer is a very docile breed, which is what makes them excellent pets, but they are also playful and curious creatures. Yet, they can be nervous in new surroundings or in seclusion. For this reason they do best in small groups of three to five individuals.

Additional Information

Domestication

The Orman Cat Deer had been a domesticated pet for many generations in Orma, and has become popular outside of the country. The deer, however, do not travel well by sea, and Orman breeders do not permit intact males to be sold outside of Orma. This means that acquiring an Orman Cat Deer as a pet outside of Orma is difficult and expensive, especially as they do best in small herds of three to five members. Once acquired they are relatively easy to keep healthy and happy, but the cost of acquiring them makes them a luxury pet outside of Orma.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

While in some places Orman Cat Deer may be eaten for meat, they are most often used as pets and ornamentation for the wealthy owners of them.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

In the wild they can only be found in the forests of Orma, but as domesticated pets they can be found anywhere someone can afford to keep them.

Average Intelligence

Orman Cat Deer are rather intelligent and can be trained to do follw basic commands.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Orman Cat Deer have excellent sight, especially at night, and their hearing is also superior to many other species.
