Cuff of Wisdom
The Cuff of Wisdom is a bracelet Greta's grandmother made for her. It protects her from making foolish choices that lead to her being unsafe. When she's about to make a choice that will lead to her being unsafe, the bracelet vibrates slightly on her wrist. She never goes anywhere without it. It protects her from the demon Xelmalath.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The bracelet was spell-knitted by Gran. The magic nudges Greta when she wears it, vibrating slightly to let her know when a decision may be dangerous or life-threatening. It causes her to slow down and stop and think so she doesn't jump into a decision that may cause her harm.
Manufacturing process
Gran knitted together several thin strands of leather to form a bracelet that is about an inch wide and forms a complicated knot in the middle. It is fastened with a clever knot system that allows Greta to loosen it to take it off and tighten it to wear it.
History
As a young person, Greta was prone to making choices that led her into unsafe situations. Since her grandmother couldn't be with her at all times to help her make the right choices, she made the bracelet to remind Greta what the safest choice would be. Greta resented wearing it at first but now it's her most treasured possession, partly because of its magical value and partly because her grandmother cared enough about her to craft it for her.
Significance
The Cuff of Wisdom is significant only to Greta and her grandmother because no one, other than Greta's best friend Lona, knows about the true nature of the bracelet. If anyone else knew about it, it would probably become a valuable item and worthy of being stolen.
