Storvak (stor-vawk)

Previously known as Gel Storven before the Toldrunites seized control of the region.   The town had been around for at least a couple centuries before the Toldrunite coup, and it was always known as a small farming town near the border. It was never really a crossroads town, being off the main trade route between Aenngrod and the northern kingdom of Oestbernia. The main central part of the nation formerly known as Forgsberg but now the Toldrun See is a large plain with many farms and herding grounds, so this town was never the main breadbasket or crop producer of the area.   The most notable thing about the town of Storvak is its complete ban on arcane magic in the town and surrounding area. Clerics of Toldrun are allowed to practice their religion and cast whatever spells they deem necessary to their station. Like the rest of the See, no other deity's clerics are allowed to openly practice their faith or even display it. Arcane magic is entirely forbidden in the town limits and for most of the outer rural areas up to the crossroads area, which is about 2-3 days travel away. Over the years, many adventurers who have passed through this town have been caught unaware by this law and have ended up spending significant time in town's jails - or worse, transported to the Holy City to sit in jail for the crime of heresy.

Demographics

The town is made up of mostly dwarves, humans, and halflings in roughly equal proportion. There are a few citizens of other races present as well, though not enough of any one race to make a formal enclave in Storvak. Most are farmers and food processors, as well as a few merchants and cartwrights.

Government

The town is overseen by a Mayor who is part of the church hierarchy and reports to the High Council of priests in the Holy City. The Mayor is assisted by a small town council that is also part of the church leadership. The Watch has regular training from the See's Inquisitors to root out arcane mages and ensure other clerics that do not follow Toldrun are not present in the city.

Defences

The town does not have any formal wall, and its Watch is relatively rudimentary, despite its training from the Inquisitors. In the rare times of attack or invasion, the town calls up its citizens to form a small militia, augmented as possible by conscripted troops from elsewhere in the See.
