The Corrosive Maven
Rastynex, the Corrosive Maven was a powerful, ancient black dragon that launched a series of attacks on the city of Crabbe-by-the-Sea over several centuries, culminating with Rastynex herself razing the city and ruling over it for several months.
Not much is known about Rastynex, and there are entire groups of historians in Wessil or general draconologists who still seek out answers to where Rastynex came from.
The one thing that is most well known about this infamous dragon is their mysterious hoard that has never been recovered. In the wake of the dragon's defeat, the Wessilite queen sent a group of adventurers to clear out the lair and recover any treasure. After several weeks, half the party returned reportedly having killed several wyrmlings in the jungle caves and discovered the location of the treasure. Unfortunately, most of the loot was submerged in pools of acid, and the adventurers were not properly equipped to seek it out. The Wessilite monarchs have sent several parties in the centuries since, each returning with a portion of the dragon's treasure and reporting that more of it exists but they cannot get to it. The specific location of the dragon's lair is a secret known only to the monarch and their closest advisors, and each party that goes out does so with the monarch's blessing and a guide who is given specific instructions to run the mercenaries in circles through the swamp before leading them to the correct location.
