Feasts of the Equinox

This feast days occurs twice a year - once in the middle of spring and once in the middle of autumn - when the day and night are of equal length. It is a day of revelry and carnivals, as people around the world celebrate the midpoint of the seasons. The spring equinox festival celebrates planting and has many rituals and offerings in hopes of securing a rainy summer that will help the crops grow. The autumn equinox celebrates the harvest and provides a brief respite for everyone before the rush of the final harvests begins.   While each region and town has its own specific traditions, carnivals and street fairs are ubiquitous parts of the celebration. Along with the Feasts of the Solstice these two days are set celebration days in all cultures, as the rhythm and routine of the heavens is viewed as sacred to all. Traveling carnivals and circuses will try to plan to be in a large city at the time of one of these feasts, as it is a guaranteed day of huge crowds - though other circuses also have this idea, so there is often competition and rivalry between the different troupes.
