Feast of the Dawn Mother

This three-day festival is celebrated between the seasons of summer and autumn and honors the deity Damara. Everywhere in Ayndrinor is experiencing summer at this time, so they are able to have feasts and public events without being uncomfortable in the weather - except those in desert climates who typically save their celebrations and festivities for after sunset.   While each region and town has its own specific customs, there are several ubiquitous practices across Ayndrinor. As Damara is considered the prime deity of The Four in most of the world, a great many people know their tenets and pray to them regularly. Damara's divine portfolio includes birth and rebirth, as well as being a light to drive away darkness. In true summer fashion, this holiday is therefore celebrated with huge bonfires in city squares or outside towns in the countryside on the first and second nights. Priests read verses and inspirational parables from Damara's acolytes and holy works, followed by general revelry and poetry readings, musical performances, etc. During the day, there are carnival treats and games for those awake and able to walk around. The third day features another ritual by Damara's priests at sunrise, followed by everyone resting for most of the day before joining in communal dinners with friends and neighbors in the evening.
