Arctic Dwellers is the name taken up by the people of Malidis whose culture is heavily based around the stars above. Both mortals and veldren within Malidis have bonded over their shared culture and live mostly without infighting. The Arctic Dwellers are considered to be one of the most peaceful cultures within Axeram as they prefer to look to the sky than the world around them.Lifestyle
The Arctic Dwellers of Malidis live in small communities above the surface. However, their homes tend to have underground sections that provide a warm place to rest, often warmed by nearby hot springs. The people of Malidis live mostly nocturnal lives preferring to work under the stars than a glaring sun. The Arctic Dwellers hunt and use the hides of large arctic creatures to create clothes capable of withstanding the sub-zero temperatures of their icy home.Trade
The Arctic Dwellers play an important role within the world of Axeram as their knowledge of the stars is unmatched. The charts and observations made by them are often traded and shared by travellers who visit Malidis or when an Arctic Dweller travels to find a new view of the stars. They are also known for elaborate designs of clothing and home decoration. All in imitation of constellations and moving star patterns. The more skilled artisans within the Arctic Dwellers are even known to make elaborate puzzles and contraptions that revolve around the movement of the stars. It's said that the reason the veldren set up on the arctic continent of Malidis was to observe an uninterrupted view of the night sky and work in peace, away from the troubles of other nations. Once the Ven era came to a close, the veldren within the Arctic Dwellers offered to peacefully step down from their roles as rulers. However, the mortals of Malidis only wished to learn more of their culture and asked the veldren to continue leading until they had the knowledge to lead alongside them. Recognised as the most peaceful transition between eras. Whilst the world was in conflict the Arctic Dwellers sat beside one another and looked to the stars.
