The Wandering Tower

I thought the reason people made towers was to stake a claim on land, not for transportation.
— Ezlet, Town Guard

Overview

It's as strange as it sounds, this piece concerns a tower that wanders the world. One day it may stand outside the city of Luna, and then the next day it may stand in the waters outside of Centrum. In truth, no one knows just how far it travels from one sighting to the next nor is it known precisely how long it takes to make a journey. What is known is that the tower will occasionally be seen from midnight to midnight for a day only. The tower's rare sighting may indicate that this particular structure travels the world.

Appearance

The tower would appear to have been carved from solid stone, with intricate yet flowing designs that decorate the entire structure. It would seem to have been designed by an Elvish Architect. The stone itself a rather pale shade of grey. There are windows close to the top which appear to have been made of a kind of opaque glass. However, Those who have seen the tower say that there is a pale blue light that shines through the windows.

Origins

No one knows where it comes from much less who could have built it. The Elvish architecture would suggest that it was made after the collapse, but no one seems to have a record of its construction. At least, no record that the Archivists Guild was able to acquire.

Slowing Field

Those who have seen the tower up close report that it is often surrounded by an Magic Field. The field is one of slowing, since those who have approached the tower remember seeing the hours flow by when close to the tower. The effect ends when the tower disappears.

No Entry

Those who have seen the tower close up report no visible entryway of any kind. If there's a way to enter this tower, it is not yet known. If there is a hidden door then it is impossible to spot from a distance. If such a door can be spotted up close, then no one has had the time to make a proper examination. The aforementioned slowing field means that one has much less than a day to study the tower for points of entry.

Imprint on the Land

When the tower moves on it leaves a wide and deep hole in the ground where it once was. If the tower should appear in the same spot as a building it will displace the material already there as some unfortunate farmers have discovered. Cities and towns protected by a magic shield generated by a Schutz Crystal have yet to see the tower appear within their walls, so they seem protected from this strange and dangerous building.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

This tower has appeared not once, but twice in the Viridi Woods according to Centrum records. - Archivist Taenya Naïlo   Did anyone get a closer look? - Archivist Enna   The first time, 1127AGC, the city sent a party to investigate. They did not learn much. The second time, 1259AGC, was after the hostility of the wood began, and the tower landed right in the middle of it, so no one was willing to take a look for themselves. - Archivist Taenya
