Overview

The Hiyokuna is a collection of islands between the continents of Quassus and Deshret in the western region of the Shizukana Sea. It is also the home of the Azumanami Thalassocracy. The islands lie south of the Kingdom of Vhara.

Geography

The islands of the Hiyokuna Archipelago are covered in think jungles. These jungles are home to a wide variety of life. While this is beautiful to behold, it does make the establishment of a healthy civilization highly difficult. Hence, the Azumanami have opted to build their villages, towns, and cities along the less dense coastlines. This is truer on islands that are mountainous in addition to being overgrown, where flat plots of land are in short supply.
Because of the shortage of tamable land, the Azumanami have taken to building floating buildings that help extend their settlements into the sea. There are even towns and villages that exist entirely on the water as great floating structures. The most impressive of these are the floating fortresses and the Azumanami capital- the Han'ei.
Out in the sea, as is the case with the The Verdant Archipelago, a greater and richer variety of life can be found. Vast coral reefs spanning the distance between islands serve as a home to many upon many kinds of fish. It is so rich that the Everath have chosen this place as their home. The Everath are an underwater people of Tritons and Merfolk that have built for themselves a thriving society beneath the waves. The extent of this society is difficult to determine for surface dwellers and the Everath are largely secretive.
This may soon change as the pressure of an impending invasion from the Kingdom of Helia may encourage closer relations between the Everath and the Azumanami. For the moment, the underwater peoples enjoy the rich and vibrant landscapes beneath the waves that have so far been out of reach of most malevolent forces.
