Apple Village of Elpída

Overview

A small village known for its large and varied apple orchards. These apples form the cornerstone of trade for Elpida and is the foundation of the town's reputation among the peoples of other nearby settlements. The town itself features various thatched roofed buildings, some of which are built partially or fully into the nearby tall hills.
The Elpida Village is located on the southern slopes of the Evening Mountains.

Encounter with Nema

In 1195AGC, a ranger now known as Néma visited the village and saved it from a troll attack. The ranger had been injured during the fight and the town helped them to recover. The villagers of Elpida then contracted the ranger to hunt down a dangerous goblins threatening the village. The contract was honored, and the Nema left for other lands.

Government

The village is run by a Mayor who heads the Elpida Village Council. The council is made up of three to five individuals not including the mayor. Their role is to establish laws, collect taxes, and other administrative duties. The Mayor acts as the head of this council and is responsible for appointing the members of the council. Traditionally, the members of the council have been family members or other relatives of the mayor, though the village folk have grown increasingly unsatisfied with this status quo. A movement critical of this nepotistic tradition is building among the village folk and centering on a few charismatic individuals.

Geography

Being on the southern slopes of the Evening Mountains, the geography surrounding the town of Elpida consists of many hills, trees, streams, and rivers. Most of the trees near the village are of course various kinds of apples trees. The local soil is very well suited to growing apples.
