With Fronds Like These, Who Needs Anemones

We have made a terrible mistake. On the upside, I am immune to poison. On the downside, I have tiny anemone tentacles on my face now. The first enemy we encountered today was a giant anemone, which tickled.   When crab people offer to perform a sacred water-breathing ritual on you, ask questions beforehand. We are slimy and dry out in the sun. We can only heal submerged in salt water. This is starting to feel like free verse slam poetry.

A Dragon is on Our Side (Of the Island)

A month at sea. Ran into doldrums and a really violent storm. We battened down the hatches and rode it out, which is all that you can do in such a situation. That was the plan until Sintori decided to be a hero and went overboard with some loose rigging. We managed to get him back on board, but a bunch of creatures called "marrow" attacked us with harpoons. Half of us got impaled, and Lunadris was almost killed, as usual. I need to learn how to fight better so that I can protect my friends who are more magically gifted than I.   That cutlass I got from the Discovery did not operate as expected. I've had better results with my axe. I'll see if someone else wants the blade. Maybe Kalibek will make use of it. For a guy who's all about magic and music, he sure stabs a lot of people. And explodes them. There's a lot of rage in that person. He finally told us a little bit about his past, and it was chilling. Apparently he was a slave to a pirate who tortured his workers. I'm familiar with physical pain, but I can't imagine having to live and work under with the person who disfigured you. The rage makes sense.   We arrived on Crocodile Isle and met up with the dragon-turtle. We agreed that he is not a friend, exactly, but an entity who has decided to use us as more than just food.   Apparently the air on the island is poisonous. That's going to be inconvenient.

More Sea Hooligans

We discover a shipwreck called "Discovery." (I have been learning about wordplay from my companions, and this is apparently a very clever one). We find a bunch of sahuagin on board tormenting a few survivors. Our fight to rescue those people was insane. I annihilated a few with some very potent blood magic. It seems to be becoming more powerful.   We tossed the ship's cabins and found a few things of note: some potions, some money (I am told it is a lot of money, too), two diamonds also worth a great deal (we instantly gave these to the dragon turtle, who is now our new boss/god it seems). We also find a magical longsword that I sense will be useful in upcoming battles.   I tried to talk with the survivors we picked up, but as usual I was a stammering idiot. Conversation is not among my talents. It is hard to know when people are being serious and when they are making jokes.

Back in the Rigging Again

We are back at sea, thank the gods. We hear another Proverb of Jim from Torielle: "Do mediocre work so no one will ask you to do more work," or something like that. I will keep this in mind for future employment... although it seems like we might be pirates now. We run into a dragon-turtle named SKUHONIM. He thinks we are "amusing," which makes me very uncomfortable. He wants us to find "shiny things" for him. Hopefully we can employ the new proverb of Jim and not become his lackeys for the rest of time. Hopefully we can do that and not get eaten. I couldn't do much in our encounter with Skuhonim, since I'm not the best at talking and fighting him was impossible. Fortunately, we run across a shipwreck overrun by Suave Hooligans (or whatever they are called). Hopefully we can save some humans and get out of here alive.

More Grunt Work on Another Island

On another island. There is volcano here. We hack through branches all morning searching for water. Grunt work for Algar and me, as usual. We find what is called yellow musk creeper, and learn about this carnivorous plant from Torielle. She is most knowledgable about such things. Apparently, these musk creepers plant spores in your brain and take control of you. To be one of these things- I can't imagine many worse fates. It is a mercy to dispatch them.   We steer clear of that weird plant, obviously, but pretty immediately encounter a bunch of undead things made by the yellow musk creeper. While we were fighting them back, that weird thing happened again with my blood magic. I did not perform any sort of rite, but the power was there anyway. I will have to speak to Ada about it next time I see her. Perhaps she will be able to advise me. Fortunately I didn't hurt any of my companions. I have to get this under control before something bad happens to them.   Also, our fight burned down a lot of the forest. This is why I prefer the sea.
