Cult of the Elder Wyrm

A group of individuals that believe in the "Way of the Scale." They believe that ancient knowledge was held and lost by the scaled beings (Lizardmen, Snakemen and Dragons). They feel that they need to hand the world back to the "Scaled Ones" in order to ensure that they themselves are "evolved" to a high form.

Elder Wyrm Goals

The cult seeks to awaken dragons of all kinds in order to bring back the golden days of Draconic reign. The head of the order, Balifen Torival, repeats doctrine gained from his research of Draconic history that those "of the scale" once ruled over peaceful lands where all other races lived free of conflict. He believes that freed from the yoke of rulership, humanoids had no reason to battle one another, and peace was the result. Since the dragons left for their "great slumber" the friction between the races began, as each sought to gain dominance over the other in the absence of a truly dominant species. The belief of Balifen and through him, the cult is that awakening the dragons will cause the humanoids to once again show their subservience to dragons, and hostilities will cease. He further preaches that those who awaken the dragons will be offered a place at their sides, and offered rewards befitting a dragon's hoard.

Current Activity

Currently the Cult is scouring Avenaria for dragon eggs or remnants of dragon eggs, in an effort to find the sleeping places of the ancient dragons. They are then using these eggs to corrupt Lizard Men, providing them power through profane magic that turns them into Dracokin. These Dracokin, they hope, will be be attuned to the type of dragon that created the eggs they were made from. Thus far they've only successfully used Dragonborn eggs to create Dracokin, as full dragon eggs proved to have too much power.
