Mist Beacon

From its massive library to the lush gardens, Mistlight's grand castle is a sight to behold. The large orb of light that sits atop it can be seen for miles, even through the thickest fog.

This castle sits atop a hill within the central district of the capital Mistlight. It's home to the region's monarchy, their family and guests, and numerous government officials. The current monarch head seated here is the eladrin Olaster. Most of the castle is open to the public with a few restricted exceptions.

Design

The castle's exterior is built from a white stone that shimmers in the light. All of its wooden features were made with oak. Lining the exterior walls are golden yellow banners depicting a beacon as the emblem. Floating above the castle grounds at its center is the large orb of light used to guide people through the fog. Different buildings are dedicated to specific features. Those closer to the front of the castle are where most of the public access locations reside. Restricted areas are further back from the main entrance. The monarch's residence is the farthest away and heavily guarded.

Features

Library

This is the most popular portion of the castle. It encompasses the entirety of the Kivas building, named after Mistlight's founder. There are five floors and a basement. Patrons can find plenty of tables, reading nooks, and quiet study rooms to use. Most books from the collection are available for loans. Rare and other protected items cannot be removed from the library. Patrons may access them with supervision and agreeing to follow the librarian's instructions on how to handle them.

Gardens

Lush and well kept gardens cover parts of the courtyard along with portions of the land outside the castle walls. They are open to the public and sport numerous benches to sit on. Several fountains are spread out through these areas as well. They are best known for their vibrant roses and animal shaped hedges.
