Moz'ki
Moz'ki is a town in eastern Umela most known for its proximity to what is known as the Death Woods.
Demographics
Most of the residents of Moz'ki are human, but other species of people are not uncommon. Most people are farmers or engage in a trade that helps to support the town and its residents.
Government
The town leader is chosen by popular vote every five years. Most leaders tend to serve multiple terms until they choose to retire, as community is incredibly important to residents of Moz'ki and leaders who put the town first are the only ones elected.
Defences
The town's defenders are known as the Death Shields. While they primarily focus on protecting the town from the dangerous monsters venturing from the Death Woods, they will also protect the town from all others who intend harm to the community.
History
Moz'ki's history is similar to that of many settlements in Avarha. It is believed that a group of travelers utilized a cave in the area when a Realm Conjunction came upon them during their travels - sheltering inside to avoid being pulled away to another realm. During the conjunction they made the cave more comfortable for their group, and likely chose to remain in the area afterward due to the plentiful food and local springs, as well as knowing they had a suitable shelter for Conjunctions already.
As time progressed, the settlement grew, especially once Core Anchors were created and the cave shelter was no longer required during Realm Conjunctions. It is unclear when the Death Woods appeared, whether before or after Moz'ki was settled, but the dangerous woods have encroached on the town over time, leading to the establishment of the Death Shields.
Points of interest
There is a network of caves to the south of the town that once provided the residents protection during Realm Conjunctions. While the caves have since fallen into disuse, it is rumored that some hidden treasures or personal belongings were left behind and never retrieved. The caves are dangerous, as maintenance has not been done on them in many years, so anyone looking about for supposed treasures are warned to take care.
Tourism
Most of those who visit Moz'ki are people interested in the Death Woods and the phenomenons that exist around those woods. Skywatchers from the Skywatcher Institute visit frequently, as do many others who have made a study of unique plants, beasts, and effects of Realm Conjunctions. Several inns have been established to accommodate these travelers, and some Death Shields offer their services as guards, though they will not enter the woods.
Natural Resources
There are several springs in the area, which allow live in Moz'ki to carry on with little concern about having to collect and store a water supply.
