Aurora Haze
The condition known as "Aurora Haze" is common among people who spend a lot of time looking at the auroras caused by Realm Conjunctions. Fortunately, the condition is temporary and not very serious.
Causes
The shifting, colorful lights of the auroras caused by Realm Conjunctions can be fun to watch, but doing so for an extended period of time can cause the viewer to temporarily lose their sight to varying degrees. Mild cases only cause blurry vision, but more serious cases, caused by continuously watching the auroras for a long period of time, may cause near total blindness.
Treatment
The best treatment is to remain in a dark place, preferably with one's eyes closed, until vision returns to normal. Healers recommend to rest the eyes for double the amount of time spent looking at the aurora.
Prognosis
Even the most severe cases of Aurora Haze are only temporary, but healers still advise not looking directly at auroras for any length of time. It is widely believed that several cases of Aurora Haze in one's lifetime may accumulate into long-term damage.
History
Aurora Haze was not common prior to the widespread use of Core Anchors. This was because few individuals were looking at the auroras while sheltering underground to avoid Plucking. Now that nearly everyone spends Realm Conjunctions above ground, it is far more common to watch the auroras for too long and develop a case of Aurora Haze.
