Krulan

Krulans are a formidable ethnic group from the vast steppes and tundras of Eastern Vidrea, where their nomadic ancestors forged the mighty Krulan Empire. Known for their resilience and martial prowess, the Krulans' vast empire dominates much of Eastern Vidrea, now encroaching into the west. They have yellowish-bronze skin, black hair, and broad, flat features, with almond-shaped eyes and high cheekbones.   Krulan culture revolves around loyalty, strength, and the principles of conquest, guided by their devotion to Bane, the god of tyranny and order. Their society is clan-based, with chieftans leading each group under the Great Khan. Although fearsome warriors, the Krulans have a rich tradition of storytelling, epic poetry, and craftsmanship, celebrating their history and nomadic roots even as their empire expands into settled lands. Their legendary Black Horde exemplifies their swift, coordinated tactics and dominance on the battlefield.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Krulans were instrumental in forming Eastern Common, a widely spoken trade language that's spread beyond just the territories they have conquered. Their native language, Krulani, is a melodic yet forceful tongue descended from Ancient Shānwén. Krulani has been largely phased out, spoken only by nobles, historians, and artists who appreciate older texts. Krulans in positions of government often speak Goblin to negotiate with their Hobgoblin allies in the Khaveran Dynasty. Among the priesthood and military elite, prayers and oaths to the Strife Emperor are recited in Abyssal.
