The Cloisters

Currently led by the Martial King Viktor, the Cloister's beginnings date back to when human experimentation and minority oppression was the law of the land. Factions within community groups came together and were united under one banner by the founder of the Cloisters when the Goa Empire stepping in and set standards for society. Since then, rather than relying on hard to get Devi arts practitioners within the Cloisters focused on Body Enhancement through trial and error and carved their own specialty over time. Their efforts eventually gave birth to the Meliorist Path and with the inclusion of beast tribes that were hunted off their land, the overall military might of the Cloisters has since sky rocketed to oppose even well established sects sponsored by their respective nations directly. The humble beginnings of the Cloisters instills pride in each of their members. They protect themselves and their own with power and force and enjoy a community not unlike a fraternity with some even going as far as to look down on those who were given everything from birth. Each branch enjoys a loose network of communication and create their own network with the local community by offering protection and services in exchange for relative cheaper prices than the infamous Umbra sect. Everything from escort duty, bounty hunting, dungeon exploration contracts from reputable families,  and pioneering new territory the Cloisters is the sect that most resembles adventurer parties than any other sect. A new recruit is made to be a porter regardless of their talent and by networking with their party and the branch as a whole, will eventually be eligible to form a B team with other up and coming porters. Because of the Cloisters' down to earth system, even the porters can find and make a living through the Cloister's network with the local community by doing part time work or odd jobs when porter work isn't available. B teams grow up together and are generally inflexible unless a member dies or retires for any reason, becoming something like a small, work family. Internal disputes are solved internally and are frowned upon within most branches. Loot taken obtained from a mission is given to the branch which redistributes it based on performance and need. In order for a B team to be promoted to an A team, each member must have achieved decent headway into the Meliorist path as well as made contributions to the branch over a period of time in the way of accomplishing missions.
  • As one of the two major service sects in Avalon, the Cloisters often made deals and trades with the Umbra sect public branches to carry out due diligence or assist as a contractor in certain high profile missions that cannot fail.
  • Since the betrayal of the successor candidate, the relationship between the Umbra sect and the Cloisters has since become tense, putting a temporary hold on any deals between the sects and thus weakening the overall power of both sects.
  • It's main branches and largest influence are in the Nairobi Republic where the governing bodies work alongside the Cloisters to keep the citizens safe and guard Oasis and the Blue Channel.
